Lonely girl (a Tony Perry romance)

chapter 6

He asked his mum and sister to wait at the main entrance for him. He quickly slipped back into Lily's room and took her hand in his. It was so tiny but this time actually felt warm. It was as if the Lily he had been seeing was some sort of ghost.

"I'll see you tomorrow, somehow" he whispered to her.

He went to give his details to the nurse for when the police were called. He said this to try and ensure it happened.

Then he made his way to the entrance to drive his mum and sister home.

When Tony got home, he rang Vic, to tell him what had happened.

"That's seriously weird" said Vic.

"The nurse said she's been in a coma for over 3 weeks so it happened before we even got back from tour" Tony told him. "I'm going back to the hospital tomorrow to check on her."

"I hope it all works out for her" Vic said. So do I thought Tony.

That night he dreamt of her again. This time she was smiling. And laughing. What a beautiful sound. He woke up feeling relieved for a change. After a quick shower and breakfast, he went to his car and headed for the hospital.

On arrival, he headed straight for her room. The nurse informed him that the police had been called and after questioning, Bryan had been arrested. Lily's blood had been found around his house and on clothes there. He also had a previous conviction for assaulting an ex girlfriend.

Tony sighed with relief. Now maybe this poor girl would have some sort of a life.

He went into her room and sat next to her bed. He gently lifted her hand into his and rubbed his cheek on it. He felt a tiny squeeze on his fingers.

"Lily, you're safe now. Bryan has been arrested. He can't hurt you anymore."

Her hand squeezed his again, this time a bit more strength in the movement.

Her eyelids fluttered slightly. Tony ran to the door and called the nurse.

He sat back down, taking her hand in his again. The nurse came in with a doctor.

"Lily, the doctor is here. Can you open your eyes for us sweety?" said the nurse.

Her eyelids flickered again, but nothing more.

"It might take some time for her to come around. She was badly beaten and may never be as she was before" said the doctor sadly.

Tony squeezed her hand gently to let her know he was still there.
