Amelia's Point Of View:
An amazing aroma fills my senses as I rest within the darkness. Then a melodious and soothing voice speaks to me. "I'm so sorry you will have to feel the pain I felt beginning ten years ago and just starting to dull two years ago."
A woman whispers softly to me.' A woman? My mate is another she-wolf? Is the Moon Goddess insane? How are we supposed to produce an heir to become the King or Queen of Werewolves? How am I going to keep my promise to my father to give him at least five grandchildren? Is my father even okay? What pain is she speaking of? Why can't I wake up? Why is my body overheating as though I'm entering into my first shift?' I ask myself trying to call out to my mate to help me. As soon as the word mate crossed over my chapped lips, the woman who was here before leaves. When she leaves, I manage to open my eyes. I look down at the white silk gown I'm in now compared to the cotton one I was in the first time I'd managed to awake from the deep slumber that exhaustion brings. I then notice that my hair is wet and in an intricate braid. When had she had the time to do such a thing and how did I not feel her movements or touches?
I slowly stand to my own feet in a daze and reach for the royal purple robe someone had laid out for me. I tie the belt around my waist tightly and creep cautiously out into the hall. Where is my guard? Have the incapacitated him?
"It's nice to see you up at last, Princess." Lethe says from outside of the door startling me. I let loose a quiet swear before blushing. "My apologies for startling you."
"Thank you for alerting me to your presence, Lethe." I say sourly. "Where are we exactly?" He smiles softly.
"You managed to keep up with an elite guard in running to the onyx palace of the Queen of Rogues two days ago. She wishes to speak with you immediately." he says before accessing my state of dress. "Umm, Princess, why aren't you dressed yet?"
"Probably because I am famished from being asleep for two days." I snap causing his smile to waver. He nods quietly. A maid briskly walks up to me with a horrified look on her blemish free face.
"Your Highness, why are you out in the hall in such a manner of dress?" she asks in a near high pitch voice.
"Once again I am famished and want some food!" I yell and am shocked when the earth trembles. I look at my feet before running into the room and locking the doors. 'Did I just do that?' I ask myself terrified. A soft knock on the door sounds and another maid introduces herself as Tammie, the maid who prepared my room for me.
I unlock the door and allow her to enter with a tray of delicious foods. As I am eating, she shows me various gowns ranging from silk to cotton to crushed velvet and colors ranging from blue to purple to red. The varieties never end. I finally settle for a blue, crushed velvet gown with two petticoats instead of the usual five petticoats. Tammie begins to arrange my hair into several more intricate braids before pinning them to my head and placing my Amethyst tiara. "The Queen will see you now." A guard says outside of the door.
