As we approach his house, I become nervous. What would I do if he didn't want it; I'm only 13. Think positive I said to myself. We finally pulled into the driveway, and I hopped out of the car. "Good luck," my sister said giving me a sympathetic smile. "Thanks," I say forcing myself to smile back, when I was having a mental break down on the inside. I slowly walk up the stone steps leading to his house and ring the doorbell. After about 20 seconds Nash answers the door.
"Oh, hey come in. I'll go get Hayes," he said running up the stairs. While I waited I decided to text my best friend Kaylie to tell he the news.
Rachel: Hey.
Kaylie: Hey! What's up?
R: Well, I have something to tell you, and I'm not sure how you'll react.
K: Just tell me I hate waiting!
R: Okay, I'm pregnant, and Hayes is the father.
K: OMG! Really?
R: Yeah.
K: Well congrats, and I support you 100%!
R: Thanks!
Suddenly I hear footsteps coming down the steps. Knowing it is Hayes, I quickly text Kaylie a goodbye and slide my phone into my back pocket. I smiled to myself knowing at least one person supports me.
"Hey Rachel!" Hayes greeted with a giant spread grin across his face.
"Hey Hayes," I respond.
"So, why weren't you at school today? I was really worried," he explained.
"There's actually something I need to tell you," I said looking down at the floor.
"What is it?" He asked with a concerned look on his face.
"I'm pregnant," I mumble just loud enough that he could hear.
"You're what?! It can't be mine. It has to be someone else's," he claims getting angry.
"Are you calling me a slut?" I question on the verge of tears.
"Well, you did sleep and get pregnant with another guy while dating me," he declares.
"It is yours! You were my first, and only person I've had sex with!" I exclaim trying to convince him I am telling the truth. By this point tears were streaming down my face.
"No it's not," he yelled as he walked out of the door and slammed it behind him.
"What's all this commotion about?" I hear a familiar voice ask from the stairs. I look up to see Nash with a questioning face, but once he sees my tear stained face, his expression turns to worry. He rushes over to see what is wrong.
"Oh my gosh, what happened Rachel," he questions concern visible in his voice. I am to upset to talk, so I do the only thing I can think of. Cry. After I calm down enough to be able to talk, I explain the whole situation.
"I'm so sorry. I'm sure he was just surprised and overreacted which made him act like a dick, and he'll come to his senses in no time and help with the baby," he says trying to calm you down.
"I don't know he seemed pretty sure he didn't want the baby or me anymore," I said bursting out into sobs again.
"Shh, it's okay. Everything is going to be okay," he coos into the my ear while rubbing circles into my back. After I soak his shirt with tears and I feel like I couldn't cry anymore, I decided I should leave, but remembered I didn't have a ride home.
" Um would you mind driving me home?" I ask looking down hoping he would agree.
"Sure, it's the least I can do since my brother kind of got you pregnant and left," he says whispering the last part.
"Thanks," I murmur giving him a small smile.
As I was about to open the door, it swung open to reveal Hayes who had obviously been crying.
"I'm so sorry! Please forgive me! I didn't mean anything I said. You're not a slut, but a wonderful person I don't deserve. I was crazy to say all those things. I want you to be in my life. I want to be in the baby's life. Please forgive me!" he pleads.
"I forgive you," I say as he pulls me into a warm, cuddly hug.
"Thank you so much!" he whispers into my hair.
"Aww that's so sweet!" Nash exclaims, and Hayes sends him a glare.
"Oh sorry. I'm going to leave now," Nash stutters embarrassed as I giggle at him.
"So, would you like to stay for dinner? I think it would be a good time to tell my family about the baby," Hayes explains.
"I would love to stay," I smile.
"Great, so have you told your parents?" he asks.
"No, and I don't think they'll take it too well," I mumble look down.
"It'll be fine, and I'll help you tell them," he says pulling me closer.
"Thanks. If I have to be pregnant, I'm glad you're the father," I say smiling knowing that my baby was going to have an amazing dad.
