MY MORNING STARTED ABRUPTLY with a text message that woke me up. I shot up as the chime brought me out of my sleeping state. I'd always been a light sleeper, even the faintest of sounds woke me up. I rolled over on to my stomach and opened one tired eye, feeling about on my bedside cabinet for my phone.
Once I felt the device in my hand I picked it up and turned it on. The first thing I saw was the time and it read in bold letters 6:32. I groaned loudly and collapsed on my back, I had another 45 minutes before I had to be up. That was another 45 minutes of sleep that I was now deprived of because I wouldn't be able to go back to sleep. I unlocked my phone and went to my messages, reading the text that had woke me up.
Hope you're feeling good this morning. Call me when you can - E
I sat up to type my reply.
Why tf are you awake?
Because it's morning Alex, the sun is up so I'm up.
Well you woke me up.
Well sorry
Yeah, you will be
I put my phone on my bedside table and rolled out of bed with a groan, falling straight on my ass. "For the love of god." I huffed out pushing the black lock of hair out of my face and standing up. I walked into my bathroom and took a quick look in the mirror. The first thing I saw; a brand new zit on my forehead.
Great. I thought to myself. Perfect way to start the day.

I have no idea how I managed to be running late for school but I was, even that extra 45 minutes didn't help. God knows how late I'd of been if I hadn't had it. I scrambled to get out of my car after parking it next to a rather old looking blue and black Jeep and practically ran into school. I locked my car, not bothering to turn around and pulled my bag on my shoulder, adjusting my leather jacket properly.
As I walked up the path my short heels clicked off the pavement and my skirt rode up my legs slightly. I pushed it down discretely with my hand while I walked up to the blue painted doors. I followed the students in, walking down the hallway with my head high and the corridor quietened significantly.
I was the new girl here now.
There wasn't an eye that wasn't on me, I could see girls huddling as they whispered. The boys leaning against their lockers looking at me.
No one would've recognised me from elementary school.
I flicked my head to the side slightly, sending my black, long waves over my shoulder and continued walking. I ignored the stares that admittedly brought an unsettling feeling to my stomach as I pushed on. I wasn't about to let these people know how nervous I was right now.
I was trying to navigate my way towards reception so I could finalise my registration and pick up my timetable but I got sidetracked when I saw striking strawberry-blonde hair.
I knew that person even if I was staring at the back of their head.
I walked over and the group of people she was with eyed me in confusion. Some were looking at me as if they were trying to solve a puzzle while others had no idea who I was. It was weird because while they didn't recognise me, I didn't recognise them but I bet if I'd known their names I'd be able to remember who they were. I didn't think I'd changed much in the six years I'd been gone but who knows, it had been a while.
