*L pov*

I lay down beside Light and looked at him. He was still smiling from his jokes, and my reaction. I felt pleased to make him smile, even if he was laughing at me. I was aware that sometimes people laughed fondly at people they liked, so I hoped that was the case here. For the world's greatest detective, there was a lot I didn't know.

We lay close together so I could feel his heartbeat. It was the nicest thing I'd ever felt.

Oh god... my face went red as I realised how close I was to something else I wanted to feel.

"I don't know if I can do this," I panicked and tried to get back out of bed. He pulled me back with a tug of the handcuffs.

"Why not?" He stared at me seriously now.

"Because you're right here and I want to do things to you."

"Then maybe you should do those things while I'm right here. I may not always be here."

I grabbed his hands.

"Don't say that."

"But it's true, so kiss me right now."

So I kissed him and the joy I felt far surpassed solving any case.

"Stay with me, my love. I don't care if you're Kira."

"I'm not K-"

"Sssh, just say you'll stay with me."

He answered by kissing me again.
