I woke up to the sound of Clayton cursing again. Serious! One time was enough but if he thinks he's going to keep getting away with this, he can forget it.
I grew up with a absolute-no-swearing policy in the house, started by mom. Which at the start wasn't easy for dad (as he grew up in a rough neighborhood) but trust me if you swore in front of mom, you'll wish you were never born.
So if I learned to keep my swearing under control, so can he...even if it is his own house... or cabin.
I sat up in bed and was just about to reprimand him when I looked the floor ...that was covered with about 30cm high of water.
Not knowing how to react, I screamed. Clayton, who was walking frantically around the room looking for God knows what, looked at me and rolled his eyes, "You just can't wake up like a normal person, can you? "
"First of all, I never said I was normal! And anyway normal people, don't wake up with the floor covered with a little flood! " I shouted. "What happened? "
"The rain never stopped last night and the water started to seep from the bottom of the door." He answered. When I looked at the door I couldn't even see the bottom. "Bummer." I said. He looked at me like I was the weirdest piece of art he had ever seen," Are you gonna sit there and comment on the situation or are you gonna help me."
I pushed the blankets off me, "What do you need me to do?" I asked. "Pick up anything valuable that shouldn't get wet and put them on high surfaces. My eyes widened and tears sprung to eyes, "Valuable?! " I said with terror, "Where is my dog, Weirdos?!" I cried. I had not even thought of him.
Clayton shook his head," Relax, you're little mutt was with you when you came in and fainted. He went straight under my sink and fell asleep." I looked under the sink. It was empty, "Then where is he now!"
He opened his mouth to answer but hefore he could I heard scratches on the toilet door. I sprinted, not even remembering the water as I caused big splashes and heard an angry 'Hey!'' behind me.
Opening the door,I found a shocking wet Weirdos. Soaking, but safe. I picked him up in my arms and squeezed him before I realized something,"How did he get in here?" I said suspiciously. Clayton rolled his eyes, "I didn't want him pissing on my floor so I took him to the bathroom to sleep. "
"You mean you carried him!"
"Carried, dragged. Makes no difference to me. " he shrugged, casually.
"And you don't have teeth marks on your body?"
"None that I know of," he replies, "why...did you bite me in my sleep?""He bites even Austin if he handles him and Austin's the one that bought him!"
"Maybe Austin's just not a very nice person." True.
"I still can't believe he trusts you!"
"Why are you yelling, I'm in the same room as you."
"Well," I said returning my volume to normal, "who are you worried will hear me?"He rolled his eyes but instead of answering he began to pick up things again. I sat Weirdos down on the bed and helped too, until I noticed something. "Oh all the things in the world I expected to see, this is not one of them."
Clayton looked over at me , "What are you talking about now? " he demanded. " The guitar. " I barely had time to blink when he was by my side and holding the wet guitar in his arms, "Susan!"
I hid my laugh. He named his guitar? Cute! He soon noticed I was looking because he suddenly looked embarrassed and clear his throat, "Well uhm. ..back to work." he said, putting down his guitar, gently as possible
I laughed but helped to rescue what we could. After a while we were both exhausted. Clayton laid on the couch while stroking Weirdos, while I laid on his bed drinking that sweet substance he made me, the same as the night before," What is this. It tastes really delicious." I looked over at Clayton and saw what looked like a smile, before it disappeared as quickly as it came. Then he shrugged, "I don't know what it's called, but its made from a substrate out one of the trees in my backyard."
I looked at the cup and took another sip, "And you just happen to think it would make a delicious beverage." Clayton scoffed before speaking as he scratched Weirdos back, "It's a berry tree and not poisonous, so since I cook for myself, I like to experiment. "
That caught my attention, "You cook?"
Clayton rolled his eyes, "No, I order all my food online."
"Can you teach me?" I asked. He snorted "You won't be here long enough for me to teach you."
As if on cue, the rain sounded harder and the wind louder, rattling the window shutters. "Well I'm not going any where now so you might as well make me useful."
