It was the following day that I mustered up courage to go meet Oliver. He was seated on his chair in the class while other students rehearsed. Melvin wasn't in class yet. Ms. Ryan had dropped off the cookie with the security guards. They had given it to me as soon as I arrived in school.

"Hello." I spoke shyly. Oliver didn't respond neither did he move. He kept on going through whatever it was he was doing. "Hello." I said again. This time trying to sound louder. He still didn't reply. I dropped the cookie and mum's dish right in front of him. "I brought this for you." He didn't say a word. Rather he stood up and walked away ignoring the food I brought.

I stood there motionless.

"Ouch! What a pity!" caramel teased. "He got disgusted by your breathe. Did you brush today?" her friends laughed. I wasn't in the mood to talk to her. I simply walked away. I knew staying there another minute could result to hair pulling. And believe me mine won't be pulled out.

It was in my quick exist that I bumped into Melvin at the entrance. I didn't know he was approaching neither did he. We collided. If not for him reaching out to me on time, I would have lost my balance. Our eyes met for a long time and all those while, he didn't let me go. Just standing there staring at him, I could see the pain, the loneliness, the hurt all summed up in his eyes. I felt my eyes heavy due to not blinking. As soon as I blinked, we were called to back to reality.

He let me go and was about entering class when I reached out for him.

"Melvin." I spoke softly. He didn't look at me. "I still have your sport ware." I said.

"Keep it." He replied coldly as he walked into class.

I went after Oliver looking for him. I can't kill myself, can i? I've tried all I could. Maybe I'm not trying hard enough, I thought as I went to the garden only to find Oliver and some rich students exchanging blows.

"Oliver." I called as I went to him. He was really angry fighting those students. He had even been injured by one of them. "What's going on here?" I asked trying to pull Oliver away from them.

"Stay out of this." Oliver warned.

"Why should she? Or are you ashamed to let your girlfriend know how weak you're?" the students teased him. They're laughed at him.

"Point of correction, I'm not his girlfriend. I'm his friend. And I'll suggest you back away or else-" I wasn't going to sit and watch them humiliate Oliver like this.

"Or else what fatty?" one of them said. That did it. I won't stand anymore and let anyone subdue me because of the way I looked.

"I'll pull you down, and sit on you with my weight. And believe me my tummy has been acting up since morning. I don't think you'll really want to be the receiver of what ever comes out of it." I said with a fierce look not wanting to look scared of them.

"That doesn't scare me." The leader of them said. they were three in numbers. "I'm more stronger than the two of you joined together. So I'll suggest you leave now pretty thing. Or else you want to receive a taste of my anger." Okay maybe I was getting a little scared.

"You should leave Leah. I'll handle this." Oliver said.

"No Oliver. If this amateurs want to hurt you, then they'll hurt me as well. I'm not leaving you here." I said taking a stand.

"What? Amateurs?" the leader said changing his face countenance. "Then I'll show you what an amateur can do." He made his boys bound up Oliver. "Let him go." I commanded. "You're not even man enough to fight without your little warriors."
