My One and Only

Chapter XVII

I was awaken to the sound of my overly loud alarm going off. I repeatedly tapped the snooze button but realized I had to get up if I was gonna make it to Mikeys before the plane leaves.

I looked at my phone seeing it was 9:00 a.m. The shit I do for this kid
I then remembered I hadn't ordered my plane ticket or even packed any clothes. I then quickly grabbed my laptop pulling up the first website I could think of and I didn't know which airline Hunter was even flying on. So I was hoping and praying he picked the same one, United Airlines.
After paying for my ticket I printed it out and began packing clothes. I threw random sweatshirts and pants not really paying attention to what I was putting in there.
As I went to pick out my shoes I noticed some of Mikeys things in the corner so I decided to be nice and gather them to give them back.

Eventually I was done gathering my stuff it was already 9:15. After taking a shower it was 9:37 so I grabbed my phone , Mikeys stuff and my keys and went out to my car. I threw his stuff in the backseat and left for their apartment. Soon enough I made it and decided to just park outside of the building instead of in the parking garage because I wasn't even staying long.
I then grabbed the bag from the backseat locking my car. I walked through the doors and the lobby to the elevator.

I then pressed the button leading up to their floor feeling anxious as I got closer. As the doors opened I saw the last person I actually wanted to see......
Jake

It was really awkward between us knowing that  he was best friends with both of us and anytime we would fight he never knew which side to take. "Hey" he finally said.
"Hey Jake um where's Mikey" I asked.
"He said something about how he was staying back at the apartment to wait on you" I then thanked him and walked up to the door slowly but surely.

I left a soft knock on the door and after a few seconds there stood Mikey. He looked like he hadn't slept in days.
"I um brought you this so you wouldn't have to make the trip" I said handing him the bag of stuff. "Thanks.............come in" he said opening the door wider.
After I walked in he closed the door and sat his clothes on the extra couch they had in the corner. I then sat down on the other huge couch they had him following.
He finally broke the awkward silence "Okay um I don't know what to say first....but I'll start with I'm sorry. I'm so deeply sorry Aryana this isn't easy for me to say at all. Before I tell you anything else I just want to say that I don't want this to fuck up our friendship" I looked up at him.
"I'm pretty sure that already happened when I started falling for you" I snapped.
He paused "Wait a minute how long have you like me for anyway" he asked.
"Junior year I have liked you Mikey since junior year and I never had the guts to say it to you but now that I am it really fucking hurts " I said.
He ran his fingers through his hair and rubbed his face "Look do you want me to explain or not" he said.
I just sighed
"So me and this girl April have been I guess talking" he said as I scoffed.
"..........And other things but this was way before I even knew you had feelings for me"
"Well you didn't bother to tell me that anyways" I said back.
"I didn't think it mattered to you" he said.
"didn't matter?!? Mikey we're best friends we're supposed to tell each other everything regardless of what it is" I felt myself start to get choked up.
He sat there silent for a second "Like how you were supposed to tell me that you and Hunter hooked up" my face froze and my stomach dropped.
"H-How did you even know?" I asked confused.
"I overheard you talking to Hunter one night back in Jersey about how you didn't want anyone knowing you two were having sex" my face soon softened.
"Back then I did like you and did want to be with you but when I overheard that everything changed and plus I was not gonna interfere with the two of you" I then started to feel bad.
"When I moved to Cali me and April were planning on hanging out again and I obviously decided to hangout with you, Charlie and the rest because you guys are one of the few reasons I even moved out here. When me and you started to get closer and started doing.....certain things..... I liked it at first because I felt like I did back in high school. It kept progressing and I just didn't know what to do or say so I went along with it. When you were in the hospital I completely broke down and felt like I had nobody there with me anymore so my last resort was to call April and we..... did somethings and that's what you saw from the messages. And from the moment you wokeup I knew I would have to tell you. I felt only guilt evertime you would kiss me and obviously when we...had sex" he stopped so I could process and take in everything he had just said.
"I know I should have said something, I know I shouldn't have allowed the things that happened to happen when I didn't feel the same way. I know you'll probably never be able to forgive me but I don't ever want us to stop being best friends. We've had too many memories and gone through too many things together to stop being friends. I'm really sorry Aryana I hope you know that I mean that" I sat silently for a few long minutes.

My phone suddenly buzzed I looked down seeing it was a text from Hunter
Hey I'm heading to the airport you ready?

I looked up at Mikey whose face showed hurt and dissatisfaction cause I'm guessing he saw the messages "Um I gotta go" I said standing up trying to escape the awkwardness.
"Wait where are you going?" he said trying to follow me.
"Nowhere that concerns you"
I tried walking out but he grabbed my arm.
"EVERYWHERE you go concerns me because I care about you and if you were gone who knows what I would do" I then snatched my arm away from him and practically ran to the elevator and closed the doors.

I backed up to the back wall and tears started streaming down once again. I just couldn't hold back anymore. I then ran out to my car and got in. I soon looked into the mirror and wiped the tears from my eyes. If Hunter or Hailey saw me crying they would probably kill someone.

I then texted Hunter back
Had to pick up some stuff before we headed out
on the way back home and we'll be in the Uber

He then texted back with
We'll?
I totally forgot to tell him Hailey was coming
Me
Hailey decided she wanted to come at the last minute so thank her

I then put my phone in the seat and drove off back to my house

-SKIP CAR RIDE-

I pulled into the driveway and ran into the house to see if Hailey was even up yet.

Like always she was not. So I quickly ran upstairs and started banging on her door
"Hailey wake your ass up we gotta go" I yelled

A few seconds later she swung the door open "You know I'm not a morning person" she groaned.
"Look who you're telling"
I then walked to my room grabbing all the stuff I had packed.

When Hailey and I were finally ready and almost late we called an uber.
After I felt everything was in order I decided to leave a note  for Charlie and Daytona
Went to Jersey for a bit call me if you need me

Our Uber finally came and after locking the door we packed our stuff into the car and finally headed to the airport.

I couldn't stop thinking about what went down between me and Mikey and it was really stressing me out.........
