Ravenclaw hissed in annoyance, as sharp parts of the long grass poked and scratched his black and white pelt. Tawnywing laughed as he stumbled over stones and dips in the ground, but it wasn't a mean laugh, it was a friendly chuckle. Ravenclaw used his claws to part sections of grass that blocked his path, and held them open for Tawnywing and Mintpaw. "Remember to avoid the sharp parts, the last thing we need is more wounds" Ravenclaw meowed. "Oh thanks, I was just going to dive face-first into the sharp points!" Mintpaw growled sarcastically. Ravenclaw just rolled his eyes and concentrated on getting to the twoleg nest.
After a while, they made it to the edge of the field, a few fox-lengths away from the twoleg nest. Ravenclaw stopped in a tiny clearing, and gathered the other two around him. "Right, I don't know about you, but I can smell dog, so I will go out first, and make sure it's safe, I will wave my tail if it's safe". Tawnywing and Mintpaw nodded, and backed away. Ravenclaw stopped for a few heartbeats, took a deep breath, then stepped out. He felt exposed and vulnerable outside the grass, so he wasted no time in getting to the edge of the twoleg nest. Ravenclaw curled his lip with disgust at the scent of the twoleg nest. Ravenclaw crawled silently along the floor, heading straight towards the entrance to the twoleg nest. The scent of dog got stronger and stronger, and Ravenclaw could swear he heard the sound of panting. Slowly, he turned around a corner of the nest, and there he saw it. A dog. It was large, with black and white fur, and sharp teeth. It sat on the ground, watching the grass, and Ravenclaw guessed the dog could smell cat, and was waiting for Tawnywing and Mintpaw to just run straight out of the grass. Ravenclaw saw a smooth shiny thing, that led right up the top of the nest. He leapt up, and scrabbled for a paw-hold. He hooked his claws in a small, thick band that went round the tall thing. Ravenclaw basically kept bouncing up the thing, hanging onto the bands. Eventually, he made it to the top of the nest, and he stopped to catch his breath.
Suddenly, he heard a terrified wailing. He scrambled to the edge of the nest, and looked down. He could just make out the shapes of Tawnywing and Mintpaw running through the long grass, and the big shape of a dog chasing them. "QUICK! UP HERE!" Ravenclaw yowled. Tawnywing and Mintpaw raced towards the shiny thing, and Mintpaw went up first. Tawnywing stood there, hissing at Mintpaw to hurry up. Ravenclaw gasped, as the huge dog, came bounding towards Tawnywing. He watched as the dog bowled her over, and Tawnywing held back it's huge jaws, with her legs. Ravenclaw bunched up his leg muscles, got a running start, then leapt.
