The Vamps, Audrey Blanchard - Personal
Following the release of their new song featuring Audrey Blanchard, Brad Simpson, lead vocalist of the Vamps, has agreed to sit down with us to tell us about the track and his relationship with her.
He told us that "Personal" is different from the usual sound his band has. The track is solely based on the vocals and the lyrics.
The duet with Audrey, allows the outsider to see two sides of what could be perceived as one and the same story. A story of the guy who thinks that the girl he's in love with can do better than the guy she's with. By that, he thinks she should be with him. The lyric is "don't take it personal but personally, I think you'd be better with somebody like me" so it's the development of that.
We went on to ask where this duet came from. Why, chose Audrey Blanchard and not some more famous or popular singer than her. Brad explained that you've got to start somewhere and that she has a hugely loyal following, but that's not what matters. What does is their friends. A simple answer for some, but the only truth for The Vamps singer. He believes you can make good music with anyone, but the best to later jam to is the one where you can hear the chemistry between the vocalists.
And where did there friendship start, another simple answer : he slide into her DM'S and they started talking. She spoke about wanting to do some concerts in England, since she's part English and then the Vamps needed an opening act for a couple of shows so the band sorted it out with her management.
Finally, we decided to end the interview by asking him, how the female singer was doing since she fell off stage during one of her shows. He shared that she was better, she really just needs to be careful with herself and gentle with her arm.
