1987 Milan, Italy

Night really came. And faster than I expected.

The orange ball that would usually beam outside; sunk behind the starkly building, with the color crumbling underneath their structure.

Drifting down, it slowly morphs into the sapphire black everyone knows.

Alden was busy in his room.

You could tell from the clothes lining on the rim of his bed.
The wrinkled sheets folded on top of each other while the room gave off a sharp scent of humid air and lemon.

From behind, the white shirt capsuled his muscles and linings of the scar on his back.

It was vague but still there.

The Phoenix draping over his shoulders and running down his shoulder blades in vivid, but also obscure patterns.

Running a wooden comb through his blonde hair; it fell through without any entanglement as the curls wrapped around his ears.

"You're getting ready early." I said, approaching the widespread bathroom.

"Well, I am the host aren't I?" He replied, nonchalantly. Inching closer to the mirror, Alden brushed back the parts that didn't fit his taste.

"Then, I don't think the host will mind receiving one of his gifts early?"

My words sent a curious look on his face. Curling up his brow, he turned to face me with an intriguing look on his face.

Taking a few steps closer to him, I sneaked out my hands from behind.
A tiny red box was in my fingers as I witnessed a smile fall on his lips.

The carved dimples making themselves known for a short second.

"Well, well. Aren't I lucky." He coaxed. A scoff escaped from me as he took the present into his hands.

His fingers ripping the red wrapping paper as it revealed a black box inside. The container slightly small, and fitted exactly in his palm.

Glancing at me, I nudge with my hand for him to open it.

Creaking open the case, Alden's face slightly froze before it beamed with a bright grin.

Inside, was a crafted necklace that held the face of a platinum ring.

It wasn't the bulky kind.

On the other hand, it was averagely small. The ring ran with a black line through the middle with a hollow and circular carvings on the inside.

It wasn't too flashy or too plain, at least in my opinion.

"I picked that out for a long time you know."

He smiled and took the chain in his fingers.

Gesturing as he buttoned up his collars, he glanced at me with a smooth laugh.

"The honors please?"

Stepping closer to him, I uncoiled the necklace from his fingers before putting it on him.

The chain wasn't too long nor too short. It didn't stand out either. Which was how I intended it to be.

Snapping the locks together, the necklace fell down, touching his collar bone.
