A/N: Chapter 3! Happy reading

I fixed my suit in the mirror before adjusting my black tie. Putting on my glasses, the material reflected a glare while my brown eyes adjusted to the change in brightness. Combing my amber hair back I  wore my coat properly before trailing down the hallway.

The scent of fresh mint and lemon certainly smelled better than that rotten mansion.

Flinging my case over my shoulders I headed out the door, but not after loading the double pistols and pressed them in my coat.

Of course never forget extra ammo.

"Are these all the rats from the districts?" A voice scowled.

Knocking on the white door I waited for permission to be granted. "Come in."

Immediately I opened the door just to catch sight of Luca being scowled by Alden.

His curly red hair covered part of his face, but from the tenseness of his shoulders and posture- he's having it bad. Really bad.

"Yes sir. There's only six. As.."

"As?"

"As the others have died during 'questioning'." Luca added cautiously.

"Great. I thought the twelve dogs are only missing balls, but they're missing brains too." Alden murmured. Gesturing towards Luca, he nodded and immediately turned towards the door.

Poor boy. First thing in the morning and he's getting scowled by Alden. The Alden Worrick.

"Remind me again why these people hold the twelve district chairs?" Alden rhetorically asked.

"Because- previous Dons appointed them and trusted their judgments. Or whatever judgments they actually have." I stated.

Walking towards his large wooden table, I placed the document down on his desk. Alden sat down his indigo fountain pen and immediately scan the words on the paper.

"I think there's a leak in traffic. The places being scanned by the government's guard dogs are growing. And most of them are getting more accurate." I explained quickly.

"Shit. Damn bastards." He cursed under his breath.

Well, actually quite loudly.

"We currently don't have a lead. Except these two here." I said pointing to two names on the paper attached with two pictures.

"Albert Franz and William Houlford. One was our small underling but have recently gone missing after a place have been scanned three weeks ago. Last sighting is unknown." Pointing to rigid picture, a man with dark blonde hair and brown eyes appeared in grey tone. The only special feature were his two scars on the left cheek.

"And this one is the other one, he's a drug addict. The police have been trying to sniff him out for a while. Apparently he was a former guard dog but stole some important documents. Rumours have it he has been selling information and the last sighting is here."

I flipped one page and pointed at a location in the city. It was near the last scanning and unexpectedly both men were in the same photos. Multiple times.

"You've done your research." Alden wittingly grinned, baring his neatly aligned teeths.

"Or else you would have scowled me like Luca. The kid is a bit new, be nice to him."

"Was I that scary?" Alden snorted a chuckle before placing the document on the right side of the wooden table.

"Your nickname is the hidden lion. According to the books, your blonde hair and furrowed eyebrows reminded them of an angry beast." I joked.

Pulling on his cheeks I made Alden's face stretch like a pufferfish. Which trust me, it's very entertaining.

"Of course, you're the only one brave enough to deal with a lion." Removing my hands from his face, he stared at me with those eyes. His hands holding my back and forces my vision on him. It always surprise me how much his green eyes can appear in different shades.

And right now, it's that deep green that lures your attention and traps you until you break the line of sight.

In which case I did.

I slipped past his arms and smacked his forehead. " In all seriousness, what do you plan to do with the leads?"

"You take care of it. You obviously already have plans according to how much research you've done." He answered, still rubbing his forehead.

"Fine. I'll be busy and you-" I pointed in his direction.

"Try not to murder the new kid. Make it kids, plural." I added before exiting the room. Behind me I can make out a small laugh.
