Rinnnnnnnnnng.

I rolled out of bed and yawned. Grabbed my towel, hit the bathroom and got dressed. I grabbed my teeshirt that said "Hey you. Yeah, you. No, not you...That other guy. You right there! Yes you. Do you like tacos?" I loved my custom tees. I grabbed a pair of jeans and sneakers, tied up my hair in a pony tail and blipped back my bangs. I grabbed my bag and went downstairs. I found Jean sleeping on the living room coach. I tip toed past him and went to the kitchen.

"Mornin'" Everyone greeted each other

"Mom, What's Jean doing on our coach?" I asked

"He's resting from yesterday night. He just recently got back so don't wake him." Mom stopped cooking and turned around. "Kids" she began, "We need to have a family discussion tonight." Great....That means I can't go out tonight and that something was up. "So make sure you're all here before 6:30."

"Yes ma'am" we all replied in unison.

Jake went and got ready while I finished breakfast. I got into my car after and Jake came with me to school. We got to school early so I talked with my friends then I shuffled to first period. I took my seat in the back and got my notebook out. The teacher didn't come immediately so some of the swim team girls came to my desk to talk to me.

"Hey Caramell!"

"Hey Jenna, and Sammy"

"Oh my god! You totally missed it yesterday! One of the freshmen girls yesterday at practice was so nerves before the race that she slipped into the pool and did a belly flop. I felt so bad for her!"

"Aw! That's awful but kind of funny. That reminds me of Kristen freshmen year." I said. We all started laughing at the memory. Then the new girl walked in - Crystal that is. Jenna kept talking as I watched her walk in. Some of the kids started to laugh and whisper. One of the popular girls got up and purposely bumped her shoulder hard. Crystal fell down.

"Oops. I'm so sorry, I didn't see the 'princess' coming." She said sarcastically and walked to her friends and started laughing with them. I got up from my seat. When stuff like this happens I just get so mad. I walked over to the new girl and stuck my hand out. She smacked it to the side and got up herself. Stubborn. She huffed and walked to her seat. I rolled my eyes and sat down. How ungreatful. But I did feel bad for her. The teacher walked in so everyone sat down in their seats. He began his lecture. My phone buzzed. I got it out to read the text. It was from Danny about yesterday.

Danny: June told me Crystal just moved in with them. She's not used to the non-mage world. Why don't you try making friends with her.

Me: Why should I? Even if I did try she'd just shrug me off.

Danny: How do you know?

Me: (Summary of what just happened)

Danny: Lol

Me: Why are you laughing?

Danny: Because she's exactly like you. You guys should definitely be friends. Love can blossom from the most unusual circumstances (Chinese proverb)

Me: What? Weirdo.

Danny: Got to go. Love you Jamie <3

Me: Bye. Love you too.

I shut my phone off and thought about it during class while trying to keep up with the notes.

The rest of the periods went by and soon I was on my way to lunch. That's when I saw the new girl again. Looks like someone was bullying her again. She was on the floor with wet eyes and papers scattered everywhere. One of the girls step on her papers and smushed them and dug them into the dirty floor. The girl flipped her hair and walked away. She happened to be crossing my path. I bumped her shoulder hard on purpose and said, "Watch it, bitch." And kept on walking to Crystal. I stuck my hand out again not looking at her. She didn't take me hand so I snuck a side look and saw that she was just sitting there staring at my hand.

"I don't got all day" I said, "I'm not getting any younger here."

"Why?" She said in a shaky voice, "Why are you helping me?" I was going to make another smart remark but I saw her face with tears and puppy eyes. Dam it. I thought for another second.

"Well, it's not particularly because you're nice to me or something, Its just you remind me of myself.................................................and I think you kind of have a cool personality except fpr the fact the fact that your so haughty but you know I can deal with it. Ah now I'm rambling, its such a bad habit of mine. You know Danny- " she took my hand and smiled a little

"Thank-you" she said in a whisper. I looked at her in the eyes.

She was different from the shielding fake crystal before. I smiled back. Maybe Danny was right. Maybe we could be friends. I helped her up and we went to lunch as she wiped her tears. I introduced Sharen, Gina, and Julie to Crystal. At first they gave me a funny look but then shrugged and began our usual lunch chat. Crystal was pretty much quiet.

Crystal tapped my shoulder.

"Watsup?" I asked

"Er, Thanks again. Usually my brother would help me but he has class this period."

Crystal had a brother here? Junes in college though. I'm sure of it. So who could it be?

"No problem. A friend in need is a friend in deed."she smiled. I returned her smile.

"Um also" she leaned in closer and whispered. "I know I'm not supposed to talk about princess stuff in school but you have to come over my house so we can discuss contract stuff. I'll explain at my house." She leaned away and continued "plus...I'd like to return the favor so if Caramell can come to my house it would make Crystal so happy."

I smiled. "Sure I'm free after um second school til 6:30."

She got what I ment and smiled. "Thanks." She said and hugged me. Who knew she was so sweet?

I got a text. I flipped my phone open to see. It was from Danny. The text said: Mom and Dad are on an urgent 'business trip'. Family discussion is off for now.

The bell rang and lunch was over. Soon enough it was almost the end of 7th period. I was bored so I snuck a peak at Nick. He still looked tired. His eyes looked a bit dull and...exasperated I guess. I wish I could ask him what was up but I don't really know him. Plus, I am kind of shy. Soon enough class ended and I sped off to swimming practice. It was the usual routine today. After practice I went to my car finding Jake waiting for me.

"Herd you made a new friend." Jake gets all gossip being a playboy.

"Ya. Infact I did." I said. I was happy.

"Well I guess I don't have to worry about you getting into another stupid fight against Crystal and having one of you decapitate the other." He said shrugging his shoulders as he got into the car.

"Very funny. Oh I'm going to Crystal's house after wards so either call out for food or have Danny cook."

Yes. Danny cooks as a passion. Hes really good at it too. Even Jake won't deny that he likes Danny's cooking to the best. If Danny hadn't been so into inventing, he probably would have been a chef.

"Ha, if you don't make it home on time and Danny cooks then I'll eat your desert that Danny makes!"

"NOOO! Jake don't you dare." I warned him. Danny's double hot chocolate fudge volcanos with choco-chocolate chip cookie dough icecream and white chocolate dressing was just as irresistible as it sounded. I was a chocolate fanatic on top of that.

"All I have to say is you better get home on time then." Jake said testingly.

"Jerk."

"haha, wateva!"

I stopped the car in front of our house and got out with Jake. We went to the back and found Danny waiting for us.

"You're cooking tonight." Me and Jake said first thing in unison.

He chuckled. "Understood."

We held hands with me in the middle and warped to school from out backyard. We walked into school and went our separate ways. I ignored all the cold looks I got and put my hoodie up and began to walked to class.
