The weekend passed quickly with me hiding away from the world in my room with Netflix and snacks, and my parents worries more about Katherine and her threats on moving in with her boyfriend.
Turning over I groaned when I looked at the alarm clock. 6:28. There was nothing worse than waking up two minutes before the alarm. Those two minutes were the key to making it through each day.
I squinted my eyes as the bright glow of my phone screen illuminated my face. I scrolled through the list of useless notifications and emails only stopping on the ones that matter.
The one that mattered: Sterling.
I'll pick you up for school
Of course he would. He wouldn't text me at all over the weekend but now... now we could just act as if nothing has happened. Right?
Wrong. Everything still felt wrong. The shower wouldn't warm up, even when I willed it to, and breakfast supplies were thin, leaving me crabby and hungry.
There was a rasp on the front door and I grabbed an apple off the counter and dropped it into my bag before grabbing my keys and heading for the front door. I was not letting him drive me.
He rolled down his window as I unlocked my car. His car was blocking my way but that didn't stop me.
"Get in the car."
I unlocked my side door and threw my bag onto the backseat before opening up the driver's side. I don't look at him.
"Get in the car, Reese." His voice sounded tired and patronizing as if I was a child who wasn't following directions to hold on to the cart at the supermarket.
I got into my car and started it up. I waited a couple seconds for the heat to kick in before sliding on my seatbelt and pushing down the brake before switching into reverse.
I moved down the drive way slowly threatening him to move his car or I would. I watched him carefully as he reversed back to give me room to pass.

I managed to avoid him in every class but English. He did sit right next to me after all.
"Did you tell your parents?" He asked sliding into the seat next to mine.
"I haven't talked to you in days and that's the first thing you ask? Real mature. No, I didn't tell my parents that a psycho wanted me to join him and then I almost killed him because he held captive and beat the guy I like." I whispered to him. People were already stating to stare at us, and I knew why, the tension was building and circling around us like wind.
"I didn't mean it like that." He snapped back.
"How about we just go to the part where we stop talking to each other again?"
"No."
I slammed my book against my desk and stood up. The entire class stared, but I didn't care. "No? Why? So that we can have more 'adventures'? I can't hurt you anymore!" I ran out of the room passing Mr.Hatfeld in the process.
Sky was right beyond me when I reached the hallway.
"Hey! Hey! What was that about?"
