Don't Ask Me That
Tim x Hero!Reader
Your POV
I entered Mount Justice irritated. The computer announced my entrance and I headed straight to my room. Today at school some of the guys cornered me trying to mess with me and when I turned them down they instantly started spreading rumors about me. Let's not mention what they have said to me. I plopped down on my bed my h/l h/cc hair changed to fire ombre, it does this when I feel the need to use my powers and when we go on missions. I'm a pyrokinetic, with powers of telekinesis, weapons training, and martial art skills. My hero name is La Flama, it means the flame in Spanish, nothing to fancy. I have a tattoo of a phoenix on my arm that is the same color as my hair.
"Team meet for a mission briefing." I heard Nightwing's voice over the speakers. I took my school uniform off and put my hero clothes on, while walking out to meet with the team I placed my mask on. I stood next to Robin, he gave me a small smile and I smiled back. "Team there is a new villain on the loose. She goes by Fire Freak, she's also has pyrokinesis. She currently has an entire orphanage held hostage right now looking for her kid." Nightwing informed us. "She is also threatening to set it on fire if her child isn't returned to her by midnight. Team the mission is in Detroit. Dress warm." Nightwing ordered us. I ran my fingers through my hair, I've never met another pyrokinetic.
"Miss M isn't going on this mission I assume." I stated.
"Correct. La Flama, Robin, Superboy, Impulse, Beast Boy, Blue Beetle, and Wonder Girl this mission is yours." Nightwing said. "I believe that you guys can get the children out of there." He continued, "La Flama a word please." I walked to the other side of the room with Nightwing.
"I know you're worried about me Nightwing. I'll be fine, I'll protect them from the fire. You might want to have my hologram ready." I said slightly joking at the end.
"Y/n please don't say that as a joke. You're like my little sister and if I lost you I don't know what I'd do." he said.
"Live on without me, but never forget me." I said walking to the squad I was paired with for the mission.
"The bioship is ready." M'gann said. We all headed towards the bioship and boarded. I sat between Robin and Superboy. Let's get this over with.
~in Detroit~
You could hear the screams of the terrified children and caregivers in the orphanage. I need to let my powers take control while my team gets everyone out the building. I took a deep breath and started walking towards the building. I heard the team's footsteps behind me. A hand grabbed me and pulled me to the side.
"Flama are you going to be okay you seem worried." Robin asked me concerned. I smiled softly at him and wrapped my arms around him and placed my head on his chest.
"I'm just focused. This isn't going to be the easiest thing for me." I pulled away from him, "Just go in there and get those people to safety with the team. If I don't come out Robin, I want you to leave and don't look back." I said looking at him with all seriousness in my voice.
"Don't say that." He quietly said looking me in the eyes.
"Robin please, I need you to do this. I need you to leave and get back safely even if I'm not out of the building." I said placing my gloved hand on his cheek.
"Don't ask me that Y/n." He said his voice breaking a little. I stood on my toes and kissed him.
"Tim, I love you." I told him pulling away. I didn't give him a chance to respond I headed towards the building. Once I made it to the building there was a woman in the main entrance holding a teenage girl hostage. "LET HER GO!" I yelled to the woman. Her gaze shifted towards me and she let the teen go. The teen ran towards n me hiding behind me. "Run and get to safety." I commanded her.
"What makes you so brave to face me girl?" the woman asked.
"You're messing with innocent children, threatening them with fire. If you wanna play with fire, let's play with fire." I said to her. She threw a fireball my way and I redirected it back to her.
"Ooo you're just like me. Let's see how advanced you are with your powers young one." She said with a smirk. She made a flaming whip, I pulled my katana out and it became a flaming sword.
"Bring it on!" I yelled at her through gritted teeth. She attempted to hit me with her whip and I deflected it with my sword and this went on for a good ten minutes. Taking a quick break to catch my breath I heard the cries of children from behind the desk. I ran over and moved the desk out the way and saw three toddlers crying. I threw a fireball towards the woman and grabbed all three kids and ran them outside. I set them down next to Superboy, then ran back inside. The woman was no longer in the main hall, there was a trail of flames that led upstairs and I followed the trail into a room. It looked like the room I slept in when I was a little girl. I looked at the drawings on the wall and it hit me. This was my room, I remember being in this orphanage until I turned ten, that's when I was adopted by Black Canary.
"This was my daughter's room. The room that I left her in when she was three and I walked out on her. Realizing I gave up the most precious thing in my life." The villain said with sadness and anger in her voice. She threw a fire ball at the bed and it burst into flames. The bed I slept on for seven years without a family is now gone. I threw a fireball at her and she redirected it back towards me. I didn't dodge it or care to dodge it. I was thrown back into the wall by the flame. Only thoughts going through my head right now is that I am looking at my mother, the woman that left me because she didn't want me. I attacked her with my katana at full force. What we managed to forget while fighting was that thanks to us this entire building is on fire, we remembered when it started collapsing.
"Goodbye Tim." I whispered softly.
Tim's POV
No. She's still inside, she hasn't come out yet. I was worried for her.
"I can't leave without her." I told the team.
"She said we should go." Superboy said.
"Let's not go against her orders." Impulse said with a dry chuckle.
"I don't think I can do it." I said. Y/n means a lot to me. I didn't get the chance to say, "I love you too" back to her. Now she's possibly gone. I stood there and watched as the building burned to the ground and it all felt like slow motion. She's gone, the person who understood me more than anything is...gone. I boarded the bioship with my head down, I sat in my seat and stayed quiet the entire ride back to the mountain.
~At Mt Justice~
"Mission report." Batman said, well his version of asking. The entire league was here so this was a rare event. We all looked at one another and put our heads down.
"Where is La Flama?" Canary asked with worry laced in her tone.
"She sacrificed herself for those kids and for the team." I replied and I walked away. I couldn't stay and face the whole League and team after what happened. I went into Y/n's room and cried, where no one could see me.
