Why me? Why with her?

Chapter 3

I barely woke up to my alarm in the morning. I streatched in bed then sat up, yawning. I sat on the edge of my bed almost unable to get up, I was so tired. I forced myself to stand up and started rubbing my eyes trying to get the sleep out of them. I went to the bathroom and started brushing my hair. I think I started to doze off a few times standing there. I walked down the stairs about to fall over from exustion. I sat at the table and starting eating my breakfast. "Why are you so sleepy today?" Alex asked. I could barely hear her but I managed to reply, "Oh, I was having trouble with the math homework and stayed up most of the night." "Oh, but didn't you get help from the teachers yesterday?" She asked. "Ya, but I don't think it was enough."Maybe you should get a tutor?" Alex suggested. "Ya, maybe." I then stood up and got my stuff and so did Alex and we started walking to school. We got to school and waited for the bell to go to first period. When it rang we said goodbye to eachother and left.

Math was second period and I was still so tired I could barely even stay awake let alone pay attention. I wanted this day to be over already. By the time the bell rang for third period I was a little more awake. I walked into class and said hi to the people that said it first. I slammed down in my chair and felt like I could sleep forever when a felt someone poke me in the back. I sat up and turned around to see Jess staring at me. "What's up with you?" "Oh, nothing just tired, stayed up most of the night." A substitute teacher walked in and told us we could do what ever we wanted just as long as we were quiet. I turned to Jess and she was doing the rest of her homework from last night. I looked and saw she had completed the math with no problem. "I wish I was that good at math." I siad in my head. I then turned around and went to sleep. 

I got woken up by the bell ringing. "Look it decides to wake up." I hear Jess laugh. I look at her and glare. "Oh, so scary." She said as she finished packing her bag. We then left to go to fourth period.

*Time skip*

The bell rang to go home. I walked to my math class to see if the teacher could help me with the homework but they were already gone. "Great!" I silently screamed. I started walking to the main door and saw Jess standing there waiting for me. I jogged over to her. "Sorry for the wait" "No problem" We then left the building and started walking home. I couldn't stop thinking about how screwed I was about my math homework. We got to where our roads split. "Earth to Krista! Yoohoo! Krista!" I snapped out of my trance and looked at Jess.

"Oh, uh...Ya?"

"What's up with you today?"

"Oh, nothing just thinking about stuff."

"Ok, well see ya tomorrow." 

Jess started walking away when, "Hey, Jess?" 

"Ya?"

"Can you come to my house and help me with my math homework?"

"Sure." 

Jess then jogged back to me and we started walking to my house. We got to my house and I went inside. "Where is everyone?" Jess asked. "Oh, my mom and dad are at work until 4:30 and I guess Alex went out somewhere." I explained. "Oh ok. Let's get to work then."

We grabbed our stuff and started on all our other homework before doing math. "Hey, i'm going to get a snack, you want anything?" I asked, getting up. "Sure, just bring me whatever." Jess answered not looking away from her homework. I went into the kitchen and got two bags of chips and went back to the table. I looked at Jess for a second. "She looks so hot with that concentrated look. WAIT! What am I thinking?!" I sat down beside Jess and she started eating while I finished my other homework.

I finally finished all my homework, now it was time for math. Lucky we had the same teacher so we had the same homework. "Hey, do the problems your good at while I finish my homework." Jess instructed me. I finished with the problems I was good at and looked at Jess and she was almost done with the homework. "Holy crap!" I exclaimed. "What?!" Jess asked like she did something wrong. 

"You're almost done!" 

"Ya, I'm just good at math. That's all."

"Well, can you help me with mine for a few minutes?"

"Sure, which problem are you on?"

We started on the math problem. 

"Ok, so frist you have to decide how to multiply these factors to make one negative and one positive."

"Ok, like this?"

Jess looked at the problem. 

"Yes, exactly."

We then heard the door open and my parents and sister came in. "Oh, who's this?" My mom asked. "This is Jess, she's a friend and is helping me in math." I explained. My dad came over and greeted Jess with a hand shake then went to change his clothes. Me and Jess got back to doing the homework.

"Then you want subtract these to eliminate them."

"Like this?"

"Yep, then you want to get rid of the coefficent on this side to figure out the variable."

Jess had to show me how to do the rest of it but I eventually got the hang of it. We finished up math around 5:30. 

"Well, I guess I'll get going, now"

"Wait, do you have to?"

"No, I just thought I would get out of the way."

"Want to come upstairs?"

"I guess if you don't mind?"

"No, not at all."

We went upstairs to my room and started playing on our phones. I was on instagram watching funny videos when I saw one of a cat chasing a dog around the yard. I burst out laughing, "Jess, you have to watch this." Jess got up and came and sat beside me. Our arms touched when she leaned to look at my phone and I started blushing, probably like a tomato. We watched the video and we both burst out laughing. We sat up and Jess looked at the time. "Oh, I should get home now. See ya tomorrow." She then gave me a side hug and left. I was frozen in place and I could feel my face heating up. Alex walked past my door at the same moment.

"Are you not feeling well? Your red as a tomato."

"Oh, no. I'm fine just a little tired." 

"Well, tomorrow is friday so you can sleep all you want during the weekend."

She then walked away and into the bathroom. I got up and closed the door then turned off the lights. I crawled into bed and cuvered up. 

"Jess hugged me, she got so close." I then hit my cheek. "What am I thinking?!" I then drifted off to sleep.
