“You learnt this for me?”

(Y/N) wondered the halls of the grand castle, memorising every passageway and room, completely oblivious to the other students bustling about her. It was nearing curfew and the younger years were running off to their own respective dorms. She smiled to herself as she carried on down the corridors as they began to empty, enjoying the space that was held by the castle.

Walking along past the kitchens, (Y/N) let her mind wander just like she was doing around the castle. It was unusual to have a student entering the school at such an old age, (Y/N) having joined just as she went into her 6th year, but she was settling in well in (Your House). Her house mates had accepted her and she was slowly beginning to make friends even tho it was very difficult for her.

Suddenly a hand was placed on her shoulder and (Y/N) spun around coming face to face with a very handsome blue haired boy. His lips were moving quickly and his expression was slightly angry. (Y/N) finally snapped out of her shock managing to read his lips slightly.

“-ignoring me. I’m a prefect and you should be in bed. Its past curfew.”

(Y/N) stood in shock, stuttering her reply, her hands moving along as she spoke the words.

“Oh I’m so sorry. I- I didn’t mean to ignore you. I’m actually deaf.”

This took him by surprise causing him to physically take a step back, his face falling into on of complete shock and embarrassment. He started to speak again, (Y/N) noticing that some of the words looked like jumbled apologies. Placing her hand on his arm, she caused him to shut up as she sent him a sweet smile.

“It’s okay. You didn’t know and it was my fault for not realising that it’s past the whole school curfew.”

She sent him another smile and started to walk towards her house’s common room. He quickly grabbed her arm, turning her back round to face him, his previously blue hair having now gained a slight white stripe.

“I’m sorry for getting angry. I shouldn’t have been like that and I hope we can start again on better terms. I’m Teddy by the way, Hufflepuff 6th year and a prefect.”

(Y/N) took his hand and shook it, smiling and subconsciously signing his name after they let go. She signed the rest of her sentence as she spoke it, the movements coming as second nature now.

“I’m (Y/N). (Your house) 6th year and a new student.”

“Well it’s very nice to meet you (Y/N). I hope to get to know you better and see you again soon.”

A few weeks past and Teddy and (Y/N) had grown closer, enjoying each other's company immensely and spending every spare moment together. Currently they were sat down by the black lake where (Y/N) was trying to teach Teddy some simple sign language.

“Oh come on T, it’s not that hard.”

He laughed and failed the simple hand gesture again. (Y/N) joined in, laughing quietly even though she was unable to hear it. As that thought passed her mind, her smile dropped and a tear started its path down her face. Teddy noticed this immediately and quickly moved over to her, placing a tender hand on her shoulder and using his spare hand to tilt her chin up so that she could read his lips.

“Hey. What’s wrong?”

Brushing the tear away, she looked him straight in the eye and taking a deep breath she started to tell her story.

“I hate not being able to hear people’s voices or the sound of the water or the flap of the owl’s wings as the enter the Great Hall. I hate not being able to remember what my own voice sounds like and I hate even more not being able to hear you speak or laugh.”

Teddy smiled sadly and pulled her into a hug, whispering encouraging things to her as he held her against his chest. Suddenly a laugh escaped (Y/N)’s lips.

“I can hear you! I can feel your voice!”

He laughed and held (Y/N) tighter against him laying back on the grass and closing his eyes, enjoying her company and the way her body felt against his. Teddy took a deep breath as his heart raced faster, realisation hitting him about how his feelings had changed and grown towards the beautiful girl he was holding against him. He was in love with (Y/N) and he wanted to tell her in the most special way.

*A few months later*

Teddy smiled nervously at the (h/c) girl’s back. He just stood there watching as she sketched away in her notebook, the light reflecting off the black lake framing her silhouette perfectly. She was beautiful and he was finally about to ask her the question he has wanted to ask her from day 1. Walking around the front of her, Teddy smiled as she looked up at him, a smile of her own covering her lips. He watched her hands move as her voice spoke out, signing the words she was speaking.

“Hey T, what brings you out here?”

He looked down at the floor nervously, thinking of the hand movements before looking back up at her, his now light purple eyes meeting her (e/c) ones. Suddenly she stood up, her hands holding each side of his face.

“Whoa! (Y/N)? What are you doing?”

“Why are your eyes lilac?”

Laughing nervously, Teddy pulled out of her grip, holding her hands as he blew a strand of blue hair out of his face. Stepping back slightly, he smiled at her, the purple in his eyes growing slightly darker the longer he looked at her.

“Well it’s a display of a strong emotion.”

(Y/N) tilted her head to the side in confusion, her focus on his lips as he spoke.

“What emotion?”

‘Now or never Teddy’. Coughing and clearing his throat, Teddy started to sign the words that he had be learning for the past month just so he could tell her how he felt.

“It’s love. I love you and I have done since I met you that evening in the hallway.”

A shocked gasp left her lips as tears began to bubble in her eyes. Running up to him, she wrapped her arms around his waist and held him close to her. (Y/n) pulled away slightly and looked up at him leaning forward and pressing a quick chaste kiss against his lips. Teddy felt his cheeks flush red as she pulled away, signing quickly back at him as well as speaking the words aloud.

“You learnt this for me?” She paused a blush covering her cheeks as she realised what she had done. “And I love you too, T.”

He smiled and kissed her again but for longer, his lips moving against hers in perfect unison. Pulling away, (Y/N) smirked up at the blue haired boy, keeping her mouth closed and signing slowly so he could keep up.

“Now why don’t we go back to your room?”

Teddy blushed heavily, placing a kiss on her nose before moving back towards the castle, sending a wink at her as his hands moved in response.

“Only so I can show you how much I love you.”
