Imagine:Once upon a time, there was a girl.
The girl had always been known and well liked around her village. Everyone always knew who the girl was by the red cloak she had taken to wearing from her grandmother.
One day the girl's mother bid her to take her grandmother a basket of sweets. The old woman lived outside the village, and she had fallen ill suddenly.
"Daughter, take this basket and visit you grandmother. She is sick and weak and they will do her well. Be sure to stay on the path, lest you lose your way."
The girl obeyed her mother, donned her red cloak, and set off the half-hour it would take to make the trip.
When the girl entered the woods, a wolf came to her. She did not know what a wicked creature he was, and so was not afraid of him.
"Good day to you, little girl."
"Thank you, wolf." The girl replied, always taught by her mother to be polite.
"Where are you going so early in the day?"
"To grandmother's," The girl answered.
"And what are you carrying under your cloak?"
"Grandmother is sick and weak, and I am taking her some sweets. My mother thinks they should give her strength."
"And just where does your grandmother live?"
The girl smiled. "Near the edge of these woods. Between the large oak tree and the stream. Surely you know the place?"
The wolf nodded. "Surely I do." Already the cunning wolf was planning. "Say little girl, why don't you stop up ahead and gather flowers for your grandmother? They are very beautiful."
The girl nodded, delighted by the idea. "Oh of course! My grandmother will be very pleased!"
The girl and wolf walked a ways, until she saw the ground covered in beautiful flowers. Without a thought, she left the trail to pick a bouquet.
Each time she picked one she thought that she could see an even more beautiful one a little way off, and she ran after it, going further and further into the woods. But the wolf ran straight to the grandmother's house.
The girl did not continue on her way to grandmother's until she had gathered all the flowers that she could carry. When she arrived, she found, to her surprise, that the door was open. She walked into the parlor, and everything looked so strange that she thought, "Why am I so afraid? I usually like it at grandmother's." Then she went to the bed and pulled back the curtains. Grandmother was lying there with her cap pulled down over her face and looking very strange.
"Oh, grandmother, what big ears you have!"
"All the better to hear you with."
"Oh, grandmother, what big eyes you have!"
"All the better to see you with."
"Oh, grandmother, what big hands you have!"
"All the better to grab you with!"
"Oh, grandmother, what a horribly big mouth you have!"
"All the better to eat you with!" And with that the wolf jumped out of bed, jumped on top of poor Little Red Riding Hood, and
