I sat alone, in bed 'til the morning,
I'm crying, "They're coming for me."
And I tried to hold these secrets inside me,
My mind's like a deadly disease.

Chapter 6~Deadly Disease~

I walked down the hallway away from my bedroom and I heard a scream. The walls seemed to blur together as I took a step forward, and I was suddenly standing in the living room. What's going on?

Furniture had been picked apart and thrown at walls. Glass and bits of drywall littered the floor like trash. The lamp in the corner flickered, and the carpet turned red in the light. I picked my way over the mess, taking care not to step on anything sharp. I held my breath as I tried to remember where I was.

Wolves appeared in front of me before I could turn. Their fur soaked in blood as they circled each other, snapping and snarling. The sound made my heart pound, and I took a step back as everything blurred.

Fur brushed my leg, and I whirled around with a gasp. Unexpectedly, there was a man. A man with red eyes leaning over a child. He had a hand around her throat.

His other hand pinned her legs down to stop her escape as he talked. "Whoops, sorry little red. I always forget how fragile humans are. One hand in the wrong place," he drew his hands apart, "and they fall apart."

Before I could move to help the girl, the man's hands morphed into claws, and they sunk into the blood-covered skin of her legs.

An ear piercing scream met me as I lunged for the wolf, ready to drag him off the child.

Just as I reached out, the wolf disappeared and I crashed to the floor. I moved to help the girl. "Hold on it's going to be-"

The words died on my lips as my eyes settled on the girl's face - on my face.

Sudden fire raced through my veins as I fell backwards. Down to the floor as wolves swarmed over me and fur filled my senses.

The next thing I knew, I was waking up to blinding white lights and an impossibly loud grinding sound. I had to focus on moving my limbs as my brain fought to catch up.

I managed to get my eyes open, only to squeeze them shut again against the light. Oh no. Oh no no no.

I finally registered the dream I'd just had - or I guessed the memory, from the way I could clearly recall the wolf and the little girl.

Me.

I shuddered against the feeling of fur, as I realized what my dream meant.

Scratches. Gouges in my legs from that wolf's nails. I hadn't remembered them before-I'd never realized-

A sudden bang interrupted my thoughts, and I tried to open my eyes.

I recognized that whatever was happening couldn't be good, but it was nearly impossible to wake up. "Wh-what's-" I worked my jaw, trying to speak through my dry mouth.

Another sharp bang made me jerk sideways, my eyes blinking rapidly as I tried to figure out what was going on.

I was lying in the center of a concrete floor. The walls around me looked like they were made of steel or some sort of metal. I scanned the walls as I struggled to get up, looking for any clue as to why I was there. My stomach dropped to my feet as I caught sight of the claw marks gouged in the silver, and the red-brown stains that covered the floor.
