The bell rang loudly, its sound ringing in my ears. I looked around the empty hall, the same place where me and... Wait, I never got her name. I made a mental note to ask for her name later.
Ten minutes has passed since our agreed time. Maybe something came up last minute. Excuse after excuse floated through my mind, as I waited for her. Suddenly, the doors burst open and she rushed to where I am, panting like she just finished running a marathon.
"Woah, calm down, girl. Catch your breath before talking," I gestured for her to sit down besdie me and she did. I waited while she took deep breaths to calm herself.
"I... am so sorry for being late. I don't mean to, it's just that something came up and I couldn't avoid it.", she rambled while I waited patiently for her to finished. "I'm sorry,"
I laughed lightly, looking into worried eyes."It's okay, I understand. Let's start, shall we?" she nodded , and we started.
Surprisingly, she caught on really fast and managed to learn most of the chords and techniques. Soon, I taught her my favorite song, the one I played during our first meeting.
"Yes! I did it! Hahah!" she stood up and did a weird victory dance. She wiggled her lower body while flapping her arms around. I couldn't help but laugh out loud at her quirky movements. Suddenly, her arm hit my guitar and it fell to the floor with a loud BANG!!
Everything seems to be in slow-motion.
"Nooooo!" I lunged at my guitar, but it was too late. It fell to the hard ground and landed on its back. She froze and stared at the fallen guitar, not moving a single muscle.
I gave my guitar a tight hug before examining it for any 'injuries' and muttering a bunch of 'oh my god's. To my horror, there was a dent at the bottom of my guitar. It wasn't very obvious, but it was still a dent. My eyes widen and my hands immediately went to touch it.
"Oh god, oh god, oh god...," she knelt down beside me, hands on her mouth. "I am so sorry, so sorry.... Your guitar--I--I could've--it...," she gave up on talking and just sat there with me, staring at the dent.
After a few moments, I exhaled deeply and stood up. She followed, she was looking at me with guilty eyes, probably waiting for me to scold her.
I smiled a little. "It's just a little bit, just a small dent. No bad damage is done to it. I'm fine...," I trailed off. She looked down.
"I'm sorry, again," she mumbled. I patted her head. She looked up and I gave her a warm smile. She returned it.
~~~
"Joshua! Snap out of it!" I blinked, coming back to the present. I smiled sheepishly.
"Sorry, I was just thinking of you," I said smoothly. Her cheeks became slightly pink, and she lightly hit me on the arm.
"Shut up, Josh," she said, but she was grinning. "Anyways, we should go home now, it's getting quite late,"
I took her hand and we both walked to the park.
"Janice! Ethan! Time to go home!", she called, and our beautiful twins rushed into our arms. They kept on talking about how much fun they had. But with their energy drained, they fell asleep in the car on our way home.
After tucking the kids into bed, we washed up and climbed into bed ourselves. We faced each other, a comfortable silence filling the night.
"Good night, lovely," I told her and she smiled.
"Night, babe," she gave me a peck on the lips and we both fell asleep in each others arms.
