Hydroxylotls used to live on a planet that's basically a giant desert...ate what's called a Jellymite and their natural predator was some sort of giant ferret with wings...
That's about as much as I could make out from a half hour phone call with Angie. She's kept asking me what all the noise and crying in the background was. I said that I was babysitting my one year old cousin. A lie. I of course was babysitting the baby Hydroxylotl that I had just dragged out of a volcano. It was 1 am. Angie probably hated my guts right now, but I had to call her. The thing wouldn't shut up. It's cry was just like that of a human infant's but twice as loud. Why do I do these things to myself? Even I'm not so sure yet but I'm positive it has something to do with being a Guardian and not having your life be normal ever again and being hunted by aliens constantly.
'Yep, that's my life now', I thought to myself.
Balancing between my normal teenage life and doing Guardian work is about as easy as flying to Rome after school everyday only to become a gladiator and flying back in time to get enough rest so that you could do it all over again the next day. Ever since the day Kiun showed up with the briefcase containing my Universe Core, I've been juggling my life just like how I juggled my homework and a squirming, angry, baby Hydroxylotl on my flight back...
The results were messy to say the least. It soaked my notebook containing all of my homework along with the interiors of Oasis. Let's just say she wasn't very pleased It had been hard enough convince her to let me take the baby aboard but now she wouldn't let me aboard for at least another week. O.A.S.I.S. is my 'space'ship, only she can only be flown within atmosphere. She was apparently created by Kiun to serve as a method of transportation for me. As for inter-atmospheric transportation though, she was amazing topping out at Mach 9. The things an Alien cyborg werewolf can do is amazing! The only downside is that Mr. Spirit gave her a little too much personality. Maybe he'd gotten so into the whole pretending to be human thing that he wanted a wife to talk to. I'd certainly see them as being a 'compatible' couple.
She kept on reminding me how great Kiun was and how I'm wasting my time fighting aliens instead of looking for him. As annoying as it was, she was partially right. I couldn't locate Kiun and none of my so called teammates have showed theme selves. 'Am I doing the right thing? What's the Guardian's real job? I mean I know it has something to do with preserving the balance of the universe but I can't even get into space.' I asked myself those questions every day. Specially now when I need his knowledge most. I seriously think that only having one person to be able to guide someone as important as a guardian is an awful idea, I mean what if they somehow get kidnapped by a Death-rhino? What then?'I suppose ridding earth of all aliens is a good start. They didn't belong here. If the past guardian was human, he should have done this long ago.'
I was sat in my underground base holding this cute yet annoying creature. Maybe they didn't all have to go. Just the ones that harmed people on purpose. It had stopped crying now and was starring up at me. Maybe starring isn't the correct word. Like it's parent it had no eyes. It's skull head was disproportionately large compared to it's body though, like it would topple over if it tried to walk, which it often did quite often thanks to it's tiny chubby forelimbs. It's fur was soft and completely unlike that of it's parent. It wasn't torn at all with a bright tan colour. I guess it was camouflage though it's hard to see how it hid from predators as its bright pink rat tail stuck out like a sore thumb. Maybe that's why the pretty much went extinct. And speaking about it's tail, it knew how to use it. Whenever it felt threatened it would squirt hot scalding water at my face. It wasn't strong enough to pierce skin but it was painful! What's worse, the baby seems to giggle whenever it nails me when I'm not paying attention.
