I was unfortunately right.

Mr.Spirit was indeed sprinting towards us on all fours. It was unusual to say the least but also elegant, unlike those monkey-runs they made us do during P.E. as a kid. I really didn't know whether to be happy or scared seeing him run at us. I had a feeling things were only going to get stranger though.

The beast seemed as bewildered as I was, until Mr. Spirit started changing colours. Like an octopus emerging from stealth, Mr. Spirit shed his appearance of a supposedly retired teacher. The colours of his pale grey suit were darkening like black ink creeping over cloth. His skin and hair were also getting darker with every stride. The legs were the first to be fully revealed. His skinny unimpressive limbs were now replaced with long, lean legs made for running like a quadruped. Sharp claws gripped the tarmac increasing his speed.

Death-rhino tensed up sensing a fight. Dark purple lightning crackled from the creature's back as it spat out a spine-chilling hiss.

Red light flowed from every crease connecting each newly formed armour plate. His skin was completely gone now and in its place was a shiny, pearl black, robotic exoskeleton surrounding a wolf-like body.

The new Mr. Spirit was only slightly larger than his normal self but he was way faster that even a cheetah. Quickly closing the distance he pounced and finished his transformation mid-air. A segmented, rattlesnake-like tail finally sprouted from his rear, each segmented seemingly connected only by air. Lastly his face turned. Like a wolf in sheep's clothing his human features faded to reveal a long snout and a mouth filled with tactical-knife teeth. Where his eyes should have been there was no more that a dome of pixels drawn out to resemble eyes.

At first I thought that he'd missed completely but Mr.Spirit had been aiming for something else. With long pointed ears like that of a lynx, the robotic werewolf collided with something invisible. Footsteps and skid-marks appeared to my right. With a blood-curdling shriek another rhinoceros creature uncloaked. This one was much smaller than the one angrily hissing above me but clearly much more cunning, with 4 pairs of long spider-like legs instead of 6.

Before I could get a better look at the rest of the creature, it pounced at Mr.Spirit and the two broke out into a blur of claws and teeth.

Through the noise of the battle and the hissing of the creature still threatening to eat me, I somehow managed to hear Mr.Spirit yell, "Open the case!".

The case...

I had forgotten I even had it with me. I looked to my right. There it was, lying just out of reach. I took a glance at the creature. It was completely entranced by the battle taking part a few metres away.

'Forget the case, the creature's distracted! I could escape.' I thought to myself, 'But escape to where? It probably had some sense of smell a hundred times better than a bloodhound's or some other way of finding me.'

My heart was beating at a thousand beats a minute trying to decide what to do. My body wanted badly to run. To get away as fast as I can and run to the police and let someone else deal with this mess. It's been fun and all but the party's over.

I force myself to calm down. I never panic. Period. Even when my mom almost drove off a cliff at night, I just calmly sat in the passenger seat and called for a tow truck. My breathing becomes steadier. Even if sneaking away was doable, it felt wrong to leave Mr.Spirit facing 2 of these monsters. These things clearly wanted me. As little as I knew him, he was risking his life trying to save me. But how could I help. I'm only a boy who just turned 16. The course of action was clear...
