-- Nico di Angelo POV –
I’m in my dad’s car with Leo. It’s very awkward because no one talks and, of course, my dad doesn’t listen to music. Fortunately, we’ll be at my house soon. I can’t wait to introduce Leo to my sister, Bianca.
----
“Okay, boys. You can get out of the car, now,” my dad declares without any emotion; as always.
Leo and I do what he says and my dad opens my house’s door. There is already a lot of people; my sister, my cousins, my uncle, my grandmother and my mom, who looks very happy. I haven’t seen her in a long time.
“Nico, il mio amore!” My mom exclaims. I hug her and she strokes my hair softly.
“Mi sei mancato, mamma,” I say. It means that I missed her.
Even if she is not open-minded, I still love my mom. She raised me and took care of me during all my life.
“Is Elias going to be here?” Leo asks innocently.
Oh, no. No, no, no. He didn’t say that! I look at him with pain and anger and he don’t understand why. I’m not ready to tell him that story yet, so I just stare at him so he knows that he should shut up.
“Who is this lovely boy?” I turn around and I see my big sister, Bianca, opening her arms so I can give her a hug. I missed her so much. She was there for me when my parents weren’t. She smiles with all her teeth and I answer happily:
“It’s my friend, Leo.”
Bianca glances at him and smile even wider.
“Oh, I think he’s a little more than a friend. He’s looking at you like he wants to eat you, by the way,” she whispers in my hear, laughing. My sister can read me like an open book, it’s creepy sometimes.
I think Leo heard what Bianca said because he’s blushing and smiling nervously.
“It’s okay, Leo. Come here, I’ll introduce you to my family!” I reassure him, taking his arm but drop it when I remember that my parents are in the same room.
----
The birthday party was fun, but I’m very tired right now. Bianca gives Leo and I her room because she has a bigger bed. My parents are really uncomfortable because we’re two boys sleeping in the same bed, but I assure them that he’s just a friend. Whoops, I’m a liar.
I fall asleep very quickly and I start dreaming. A horrible nightmares about something that I’ve always wanted to forget; something that I left when I came to Half-Blood High School.
I’m eight years old. I am sitting at the back of the classroom because I don’t have any friends. People are talking happily. A new school year is beginning...unfortunately. This year, there is a new student in our school. He looks very sociable and funny, but shy at the same time. It’s hard to explain.
He has dark blonde hair and green eyes, the color of celery. His slightly smiling, but I think that is his natural expression. His beautiful eyes are shining bright; they’re full of happiness.
The teacher, an old woman with black hair, his calling the names. The new student is sitting next to me, looking casual, but I know he’s nervous.
“Elias Owen,” the teacher says.
“I’m here,” the boy with green eyes shouts. He looks at me and smile. “What’s your name?” He asks joyfully.
