"You know, Mira, I've been thinking lately. You know I like Elliot Surfer. But I've been wondering, 'is it true love?' Do you think it is?" asked a beautiful seventeen-year-old girl named Landa Polymer. She had long chestnut brown hair and bright, sparkling green eyes, shaped like gems. She was wearing a cute shirt with spaghetti straps and skinny jeans. She lived in Miamiforde (not related to Miami at all). She had no brothers or sisters. Her best friend, Mira Hibers, lived next door. Mira's parents owned a dolphin zoo. The zoo had only dolphins, no other animals. Landa would often visit the dolphins, mainly because she had a favorite dolphin named Gracie and she could go for free since she was Mira's best friend.
Mira had been Landa's best friend since they were born. They were born on the same day. Their parents knew each other well. When Mira and Landa were babies, they were often together because their parents would often visit each other. Since that time, they are best friends still. Of course, they quarrel sometimes, but they're still best friends. They've always been there for each other.
"I don't know," Mira finally answered. "I know my love for Peter Crange is real. I'm never giving up on him, even if he hates me. I hope you're not planning on giving up on Elliot?" said Mira suspiciously. Mira Hibers was also seventeen. She was what people would call gorgeous and probably, they'd think she was popular and spoiled. Though it is true she was popular, she was far from being spoiled. Her blonde hair was like Rapunzel's, though not nearly as long; it only reached her tailbone. Her eyes were bright blue like the ocean. She had a beautiful heart-shaped face and her body was slim. Yes, she was very popular, but she ignored it. She took it very humbly and hated it when people told her about her beauty and popularity.
"No, no, I don't think so, at least. And I know Peter just loves you. He always looks at you so sweetly and he's always talking about this perfect girl he loves, and I'm sure it's you. Plus, who wouldn't like you? You're so beautiful, nice, sweet, smart, and just perfect, unlike me, who's the exact opposite. I'm sure Elliot doesn't like me," Landa said after looking at Mira's perfect self.
Mira gave Landa a fake angry face.
She said, "I'm not perfect, Landa. Believe it or not, there are some who don't like me and-"
"Oh really? Like who?" interrupted Landa.
"Well, I don't know, but I know not everyone loves me. Incidentally, isn't it weird that the guy you like is in my class and the guy I like is in your class?" asked Mira with a giggle.
Landa nodded and answered despairingly, "Yeah. Even your laugh is attractive. Everything is attractive about you, Mira."
"Oh, Landa, you're perfect to me. I love you for who you are, even if boys don't. I know I'm the most popular girl at school, but sometimes I wish I wasn't. You're my best friend."
Landa smiled at her friend and said, "Thanks, Mira. You're such an encouragement. And you're my best friend."
Just then, the phone rang in Landa's room. She ran to it and picked it up. She also adjusted it so Mira could hear what was being said on the other end.
Landa said into the receiver, "Hello?"
An evil laugh answered and scared the girls.
Then, the person said, "Hi, Landa. This is Elliot Surfer. Sorry if I scared you."
Landa couldn't help smiling. Elliot had never called her before.
She was so happy as she said, "Hi, Elliot. You did scare me, but that's okay. What did you call me for? Well, don't misunderstand me. It's great you're calling me, but you've never called me before, so I'm wondering why."
"Well, I just wanted to know if you could come to my house tonight at 8:00. It's like a date. Please say yes, Landa!"
"Oh, of course. I'll come. See you then! Bye!"
"Bye."
After Landa had hung up, she could barely talk properly. All her words came in a rush.
"Slow down, Landa. I can't understand a word you're saying," said Mira for the third time very patiently.
"I'm sorry, Mira. I'm just so excited. He actually asked me out. I just can't believe it!" exclaimed Landa excitedly.
"I think I'll go home now, Landa," stated Mira in a tired way.
"Wait Mira! Are you okay? Don't tell me you're jealous, just because Elliot asked me out and Peter didn't ask you out?"
"Of course not, Landa. I'm just tired. I'm not into boys as much as you are anyway. Yes, I have a crush, but I don't think I would be as happy as you were if Peter did ask me out. I wish you and Elliot luck, Landa. Have fun and don't break up!" ordered Mira playfully.
They hugged each other and exchanged good-byes. Landa waved to Mira, until she was out of sight. Then, she stepped back into her house.
