The big red building towered high into the sky. Landa Polymer stood with her husband Elliot Surfer. Their three kids, anxious, stood ready to go to school.
"What a big school!" exclaimed the youngest girl with her blonde hair. Her big blue eyes were wide with wonder. She put a strand of her silky hair that came undone from her French braid behind her ear.
"Yes, Summer, dear. I went here a couple years," said Landa.
"I'm scared," said Jewel, her light brown hair waving in her face. She was tall and had jewel-like eyes.
"You don't need to be, Jewel," soothed her mother.
"You went here only for preschool, Mom," pointed out a blonde-haired boy. He was taller than Jewel and he wore a cap backwards.
"Harley, it is true, but you will be going here. I know you were transferred to this school instead. You will just have to start your life again."
"What if I don't make any friends?"
"You will, I promise," encouraged Landa.
Mira came over with her husband Peter Crange and their three children trailing behind her.
"Hi, Landa," she said.
"Hi, Mira. Hi, Peter," Landa said. She looked at the three dark-haired kids. "Hi, Cona. Hi, Jerah. Hi, Aurora."
"So your kids are coming here now?"
"Yes. It's closer to where we live. Plus, we get to be with you."
There was a tap on Landa's shoulder. She turned around and saw Elliot.
"What's wrong?" she asked.
"Nothing. Just look to your left."
Landa turned her head and saw Roco Palson. Landa stepped forward, but was pulled back by Elliot.
"What are you doing?" he hissed at her.
"Just saying hi to him."
"I wouldn't if I were you."
"And why not? He is not like his father, Elliot."
Landa went with Elliot and Mira towards Roco.
"Hi, Roco," Landa said awkwardly.
"Hello, Landa," Roco said politely. "See that you got yourself a family."
"I could say the same about you."
"Yes." Then, he introduced his beautiful blonde-haired wife as Angel. He pointed out his three kids, all blonde, as Gina, Noel, and Johannes. Landa introduced her children and let Mira introduce her's. Landa introduced Mira, Peter, and Elliot as they had not yet met Roco properly.
Then, Roco nodded, took his wife and children, and left.
Landa and Elliot dropped off their children, wishing them good luck. They stood holding each other, facing tlhe school.
"My parents had problems with Aldrich. I hope we have no trouble with Roco," Landa sighed.
"If we do, I'll take care of it," Elliot said and kissed her.
Yes, life was good. If she could, Landa would change her past. She'd make it right. But still, she was happy. She had raised a beautiful family. She had loyal friends she could spend time with. It was still awkward with Roco, but wouldn't it be if you had killed his father and his father killed your parents? It was perfectly normal. She no longer had nightmares nor was she still being controlled. Galadriel came once a month to visit with Landa and play with their children. Landa had learned a lot, from the horrible events and from her loving elderly friend who shared his knowledge with her freely. She smiled as she recalled that she was Galadriel's little magician.
She sighed, not a sigh of boredness or depression, but a healthy sigh, one of peace and happiness. It was all good. Life was worth living. Life was good!
