Later that day, after it had finally stopped raining, Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie were gathering corn for when the pony warriors arrive in the cornfield while Twilight Sparkle kept a sharp eye out for Butterscotch. Just then, Shining Armor appeared, and said "Fluttershy! You should be inside the village." "We'll be all right." Fluttershy said. "We're gathering food for when the pony warriors arrive." Pinkie Pie said. "Don't go far." Shining Armor said. "Now is not the time to be running off." "Yes, father." Fluttershy said. Shining Armor smiled as he stared down at the necklace that Fluttershy was wearing, and said "When I see you wear that necklace, you look just like your mother." Fluttershy frowned as she touched her element of kindness necklace, and said "I miss her." "But, she is still with us." Shining Armor said. "Whenever the wind blows through the trees, I feel her prescence. Our ponies looked to her for wisdom and strength. Someday, they will look to you as well." "I would be honored by that." Fluttershy said. "You shouldn't be out here alone." Shining Armor said. "I'll send for Starbeam Glamour." As soon as he left, Pinkie Pie looked at her, and started to get suspicious as she said "All right, what is it?" "What?" Fluttershy asked.
"You're hiding something!" Pinkie Pie said. "I'm not hiding anything!" Fluttershy said. "Fluttershy, you can tell me!" Pinkie Pie said. "I Pinkie promise I won't tell anypony-!" She was interrupted when she saw Butterscotch emerging from the cornfield. She gasped, and said "Fluttershy, look! It's one of them!" Twilight Sparkle spotted Butterscotch, and tried to attack him, but he stopped her with a biscuit. She landed on the floor, and muttered "Ow." "I'm going to get-!" Pinkie Pie tried to say, but Fluttershy quickly silenced her by covering her mouth. "What are you doing here?!" She asked. "Mmm?!" Pinkie Pie muffled as if she was trying to say "You know him?!" "I had to see you again." Butterscotch said. "Mmm?!" Pinkie Pie muffled as she was trying to say "WHAT?!" Suddenly, Starbeam Glamour's voice rang out "Fluttershy!" "Mmm!" Pinkie Pie muffled out as if she was trying to say "Oh no!" "Fluttershy!" Starbeam Glamour called out. "Please don't say anything!" Fluttershy said looking at Pinkie Pie. She then ran off, pulling Butterscotch with her in the process as she said "Quick, this way!"
Just then, Starbeam Glamour showed up, and looked around. He looked at Pinkie Pie as he said "Pinkie, where is Fluttershy?" Pinkie Pie picked some corn as she said "I-I haven't seen her." Starbeam Glamour sighed, and said "Fluttershy can't keep runnning off. It's dangerous out there. Tell her that. She listens to you." As he walked off, Pinkie Pie scoffed, and muttered "Sure she does." At the shady tree in the middle of the lake, Fluttershy and Butterscotch sat down at the stump as the pony settler said "This place is incredible! And to think, we came all this way just to dig it up for gold." "Gold?" Fluttershy asked in confusion. Just then, Angel showed up as Butterscotch said "Hey, Angel." "What's gold?" Fluttershy asked. "You know, it's-it's yellow, comes out of the ground, it's really valuable." "Oh, here, we have lots of it." Fluttershy said as she took out an ear of corn. "Gold." "No...gold is this." Butterscotch said as he took out a gold bit. "Hmm, there's nothing like that here." Fluttershy said. "No gold?" Butterscotch asked. "Not that I've seen." Fluttershy said. Butterscotch chuckled, and said "All this way for nothing. Those stallions are in for a big surprise. "Will they leave?" Fluttershy asked. "Some of them might." Butterscotch said. "Will you go home?" Fluttershy asked sadly. "Well, it's not like I have much of a home to go back to." Butterscotch said. "I've never really belonged anywhere." Fluttershy smiled, and said "You could belong here."
