Chapter 13

-Meanwhile at the Ponyville village-

Later that night, Fluttershy was leaving to meet up with Butterscotch when she heard somepony say "Fluttershy!" She looked behind her to see Pinkie Pie as she said "Pinkie Pie!" "Don't go out there." Pinkie Pie said. "I lied for you once. Don't ask me to do it again." "I have to do this." Fluttershy said. "He's one of them!" Pinkie Pie said. "You don't know him!" Fluttershy said. "You go out there, you'll be turning your back on your own ponies!" Pinkie Pie said. "I'm trying to help my ponies!" Fluttershy said. Pinkie Pie sighed, and said "Fluttershy, please. You're my best friend. I don't want you to get hurt." "I won't." Fluttershy said. "I know what I'm doing." "Fluttershy, no!" Pinkie Pie said. But, it was too late. Fluttershy had already ran off. Back at the settlement, Butterscotch was inside his tent with Angel, and he blew out his candle. As he started to sneak out, some ponies around a campfire were talking about what he had said earlier. "Prince Blueblood wouldn't take us halfway around Equestria for nothing." Elusive said. "But, what if Butterscotch is right?" Sunset Glare asked. "What if there is no gold?" "If you ask me, Prince Blueblood's been lying to us since we left Manehatten." Trenderhoof said. "Listen to you, you bunch of idiots. Those savages didn't attack us for nothing, they're hiding something." Elusive said.

"If they do have the gold, I reckon we'll have to fight them." Sunset Glare said as Dusk Shine looked behind him to see Butterscotch sneaking out. He followed him to the edge of the settlement, and watched him run off. Suddenly, he felt himself being pushed from behind. He looked behind him to see Prince Blueblood who said "Follow him." "Yes sir." Dusk Shine said. "I want to know where he's sneaking off to." Prince Blueblood said. "Yes sir." Dusk Shine said. Prince Blueblood then tossed him a gun as he said "And if you happen to see any savages, shoot them. Oh, and Dusk Shine? You've been a slipshod sailor and a poor excuse for a soldier. Don't disappoint me again." Dusk Shine frowned, but nodded, and he ran off to follow Butterscotch. Back at the village in Ponyville, Starbeam Glamour was preparing his weapon for battle when Pinkie Pie ran up to him, and said "Starbeam Glamour!" Starbeam Glamour looked at her, and said "What is it?" "It's Fluttershy." Pinkie Pie said. "What's wrong?" Starbeam Glamour asked. "Is she all right?" "I think she's in trouble." Pinkie Pie said.

At the shady tree in the middle of the lake, Fluttershy landed on the stump as Princess Celestia said "The earth is trembling, dear mare. What's happened?" "The pony warriors are here!" Fluttershy said. Just then, Butterscotch flew in, and said "Fluttershy!" "Butterscotch!" Fluttershy said. "Listen to me." Butterscotch said. "My fellow pony settlers are planning to attack your ponies. You've got to warn them." "Maybe it's not too late to stop this." Fluttershy said. "You have to come with me, and talk to my father." She started to pull Butterscotch with her, but he stopped her as he said "Fluttershy, talking isn't going to do any good. I already tried talking to my fellow pony settlers, but everything about this land has them spooked." Just then, they heard a strange noise, and they looked to see a log with legs as Princess Celestia said "That's the strangest creature I've ever seen." It suddenly tripped, and both Angel and Winona popped out of the log. "Winona!" Butterscotch said. Winona growled at Angel, and started chasing after him as Butterscotch said "Easy, Winona, come here!" "Angel, come back!" Fluttershy said. "You see what I mean?" Butterscotch asked. "Once two sides want to fight, nothing can stop them." "Come-Come here!" Fluttershy said as she tried to get Angel and Winona to stop running around. "It's all right, she's a friend." Butterscotch said as he looked at Winona. "Bad! Bad Dog! Sit!"

Angel then grabbed Twilight Sparkle, and used her like a sword as she said "Hey!" Let me go, Angel!" "What are you doing?!" Fluttershy said. "Angel!" Winona then chased after Angel as Butterscotch said "Winona, get back here! Stop that!" Just then, Princess Celestia came to life, and said "All right, that's enough!" Winona froze up, and fell into the water. Princess Celestia used a vined to pick Winona up, and placed her on the stump as she said "It's enough to make your sap boil. Now then, there's something I want to show you, Look." She tapped the water with the vine to make the ripples as Fluttershy said "Ripples." "What about them?" Butterscotch asked. "So small at first, but look how they grow. But, somepony has to start them." Princess Celestia said. "They're not going to listen to us." Butterscotch said. "Young stallion, sometimes the right path is not the easiest one." Princess Celestia said as she used her root to bring him closer to Fluttershy. "Don't you see, only when the fighting stops can you two be together." "All right." Butterscotch said. "Let's go talk to your father." Fluttershy smiled, and hugged Butterscotch as Angel stopped Twilight Sparkle from interfering, and Princess Celestia placed a curtain of vines in front of them. Then, Butterscotch and Fluttershy shared a kiss.
