Chapter Three
"The last night someone care about me other than Luke, was the night my mother kicked the bucket."
^~^
To be honest, I'm not too crazy about this partner thing. Like anyone would want to 'get to know' me. The greatest thing of all is that I'm partnered with the guy who just so happened to call me an idiot this morning.
I better be careful. Class prez got suspicious of the bruise. If he reports them they'd go to jail. I know my parents hate me, but if they went to jail I wouldn't know what to do. I just care like that, I guess. Luke is only a few months older than me so he wouldn't be able to take Sora and I into his custody. And Sora wouldn't be able to live without my dad. Even if she hates me, I care for her well being. Luke and I wouldn't be able to support her if my dad and Angie went to jail.
I was receiving glares from the girls in my class.
I know class prez is popular and all but seriously, get over it. It's not that big of a deal. So what? We're partners; it doesn't mean anything's gonna happen. I'm a nobody. Like class prez would go for me.
May was glaring at me, but I couldn't care less.
Honestly, if I was class prez and I went on a date with May, I would dump her sorry butt. She's clingy, desperate and just wants to date Erik for the status. I would know because my parents are like that. When we're out in public they're all nice to me just to look like the perfect family, but when we're at home they beat me up because they hate me. On second thought, scratch that. They don't hate me, they loathe me.
There were whispers all around me.
"Why does she get to be with Erik?"
"She doesn't deserve it. She doesn't even care."
"She's just some bratty little kid."
Excuse me? You're calling me the 'bratty little kid'? I happen to be the same age as you. I'm short, so what?
"Um... Ame?" a voice said from behind me.
I turned around to see class prez. "Yeah?"
"We're partners so I guess we should talk. Sorry about calling you an idiot earlier."
"It's fine. I'm used to it."
There was an awkward pause.
"So we're talking... what do we talk about, class prez?" I say.
"Call me Erik. Class prez seems weird. I'm just a normal student like the rest of the class." He smiles, though I can tell its fake.
"Kay, Erik then..." I say.
"Class, the whole day will be free time to do the assignment." Mr. Brown announced.
"Okay, so what do we do?" I asked class prez, or rather Erik.
"Let's go outside." I follow him out the door.
He leads me to a tree and sits down, leaning on the trunk.
"Didn't know you were a nature lover." I said.
"Yeah, I guess I am. It always calms me down." He smiles his fake smile again.
The fake smile. A classic. How many years have I gone doing that? He's hiding his true personality.
"I know you're not showing your real self right now." I say.
"What?" he looks a bit startled, surprise evident in his onyx eyes.
"I know you're just acting. That smile just now was fake."
