Chapter Nine

"The last night I felt like hope was lost was when I was abandoned."

I looked over at the group the Shadow King refers to as 'the clown clique'. They were squealing about some stupid boy band.

I rolled my eyes.

Ugh, having to deal with them so early in the morning is such a pain. Being forced to see their colorful faces is bad enough-like, chill with the makeup.

Seriously.

They have all these unnatural colors smothered all over their faces. It looks plain scary. I don't know a lot about this kind of stuff so I probably don't have the authority to say this, but isn't makeup only used to enhance your face? It isn't supposed to make you look like some alien, right?

My thoughts about the CC's (clown clique) faces were interrupted when I realized Erik was waving a hand in front of my face, trying to get my attention.

I stared at him, "What?"

We were currently sitting next to each other on the bus outside the hotel's main entrance, waiting for the rest of 1A to board so we could depart for the beach. I'm not too excited about spending time with the rest of the class, but I guess I'm happy about the opportunity to see the beach for the first time in forever.

If you want to make the Frozen reference, go ahead. Sora and Luke-emphasis on 'and Luke'- are obsessed with that movie so I'm used to it. Or if you want to make a pun, I'm happy for the opportunity to see the sea. Luke has been punning lately and he said that one. Not that I find it funny, though. It just came to my head.

"You okay? You seem kinda out of it. You keep zoning out. Are you, like, mentally absent today?" Erik poked me in the head.

"I'm pretty sure if I was mentally absent, I wouldn't feel you poking me," I retorted, poking him back with a blank face.

"Haha, just checking," he smiled, "So are you excited for today?

"Sort of," I replied, unenthusiastically.

"Aw, come on. Aren't you at least a bit happy?"

"I am, but I'm not showing it to 1A."

"Smile."

"No."

"Please?"

"Don't want to," I kept my face expressionless just to piss him off.

"Well, aren't you stubborn," he smirked, then poked me again.

"Will you stop poking me?" I said out of exasperation.

"No."

"I guess I'm not the only one who can be stubborn," I pulled my hood over my head to lessen the impact of Shadow King's continuous poking.

"Okay, fine. I'll stop." Erik took out his phone, "Hey, Ame, do you know who Miranda Sings is?"

(A/N: For you, LE. Whenever you read it. You know what I had to go through to write this part for you. -_-)

"No. Luke has mentioned her before, though. He said something about too much red lipstick."

"Yeah, she does wear too much lipstick, but she only does it as a joke. She's not as bad as the clown clique," he plugged in some earphones and gave one to me, "She's a YouTuber. I'll show you one of her videos. I'm warning you now. She's really annoying."
