POV: Kim Namjoon
The six of us are sitting in the living room, waiting for Taehyung. That rascal.
I made it to the Bangtan house at 12:10, thinking that I was late and everyone was impatiently waiting for me. But no! Instead, I arrive and see everyone crowded in Taehyung's room trying to wake him up.
Taehyung has the privilege of sleeping in as if there was no problem in the world. Meanwhile, there is me: a worried mess who only managed to get 3 hours of sleep.
I look around the living room. Besides Yoongi and I, everyone seems to be calm. Jungkook and Jimin are on their phones, and Hoseok and Seokjin are having a quiet conversation.
Yoongi is sitting stiffly on the couch, looking at his feet. I try to make eye contact with him, but his eyes stay glued on the ground.
"I'm here!" Taehyung suddenly shouts a little too loudly, falling down next to me on the couch. "Hyung, what's up?" He is addressing Yoongi, but his eyes keep darting over to Jimin.
Jimin notices Taehyung staring and the younger quickly turns away, his face becoming a peculiar shade of red.
Aish, those two. Always bickering.
"Uh-" Yoongi clears his throat.
"How was your day yesterday, Yoongi hyung?!" Hoseok suddenly interrupts. He has a big, bright smile on his face, like always. "I heard you had a date with your girl last night."
Yoongi's face goes red and he immediately looks at me. I turn away.
When he sent the text yesterday telling me to pick Y/N up from the restaurant, I didn't reply back. I was expecting him to send another text to explain the previous one, but he never did.
Nonetheless, Yoongi and I are the only ones that know what happened last night. That is, the date didn't turn out to be perfect.
Yoongi and Y/N were the perfect couple, and all of BTS knew it.
But that perfect couple is gone.
Yoongi takes a deep breath and runs his hand through his hair.
"Uh..." Yoongi says again, rubbing the back of his neck.
He looks at me again, and pity fills my heart when I see the look of hopelessness in his eyes. We both know it isn't the right time to break the news.
I am still angry at him, but I know that he is struggling with the breakup as much as Y/N is.
"Look, we didn't all gather here to hear about Yoongi's date night." I say quickly, looking at everyone. "Why don't we just focus on what he really has to say?"
"Yeah, I'm getting pretty hungry." Jin mumbles, his eye slightly twitching. (A/N: the fact that his eye twitches whenever he's hungry makes me so soft like how cute is that)
Yoongi takes a deep breath and says, "Alright, I'll just get straight to the point." He clears his throat. "I thought about this during the tour, and I made a final decision before I could change my mind. I'm sorry, but-"
"-I'm going solo."
Silence fills the room. The distant tick tock of the clock in the kitchen seems deafening now. We all hold our breaths, not knowing who should speak first or how to react to this.
Slowly, all heads turn towards me. I had expected this to happen, since I'm the leader of the band after all. I have always been ready, prepared, and I always know what to do next or how to handle a problem when it comes to BTS. So the boys always trust me to make the final decisions.
But for once in my career, I have no idea what to say.
I look around the room, where six pairs of eyes are digging into me, waiting for an answer.
My voice comes out in a hoarse whisper. "Let's-"
"Hyung, why?" Jungkook suddenly stands up and stares at Yoongi.
Then, quietly- "Why would you do this to us?" He sits back down and buries his face in his hands.
After a while, we hear muffled sniffling coming from Jungkook. Yoongi bites his lip, regret plastered on his face.
"Ok, um..." I try again. I still don't know what to say.
"Have you talked to the BigHit staff, hyung?" I ask, trying to sound professional.
"I went to the office this morning." Yoongi answers quickly. "They're already taking care of it."
So that's it. He isn't turning back; he won't change his mind.
I can already see tomorrow's headlines- RAPPER MIN YOONGI LEAVES KPOP BAND TO PURSUE SOLO CAREER.
I don't even want to think about the hundreds of millions of interviews I'd have to endure- in Korea, in America, and the world.
I don't even want to think about how fans would react, how they'd blow up our Twitter page with questions that I won't be able to find answers to.
The only thing I do want to think about... is Y/N. So that's why they broke up. Suga wants to go on a new path, but he'd have to leave everything behind.
Everything, including the love of his life.
"I'm just- I'll go outside for a while." Jimin says softly and stands up, walking towards the backyard with his hands tucked into his jacket pockets.
Taehyung abruptly sits up beside me and follows Jimin, mumbling something about a "stupid dream."
Jin, Hobi, Yoongi, and I watch as the two leave. The awkward silence is only broken by Jungkook's sniffling.
"What are you-" I try to talk to Yoongi again, but am interrupted by Seokjin.
"Jungkook-ah, want some food?" Our eldest hyung is rubbing Jungkook's back to comfort him. I look away. I hate seeing any of our members cry, especially when there's nothing I can do to help.
The oldest and the youngest slowly walk towards the kitchen, leaving only Hoseok, Yoongi, and myself.
Soon enough, Hoseok leaves as well. He mentions something about helping out his sister at a library.
Yoongi and I listen to Hoseok's car outside the house, until the wheels' squealing fades away into the road.
"Namjoon?" I turn my head and see that Yoongi has moved to sit next to me on the couch. I am surprised he hasn't left yet.
"Hyung, we've known each other for so long." I say quietly. "And we promised each other that we'd support each other in all of our decisions."
I pause. Yoongi is nodding his head absentmindedly.
"But- are you sure? Is this really what you want?"
He sighs and looks into my eyes. "Yes... but please, I beg you- don't let this ruin Bangtan. BTS will be the same without me."
"No, no, it'll never be the same anymore- we both know that." I bite my lip, emotions flooding over me all of a sudden.
"But I'll try my best." I promise. I would do whatever it takes to make sure the boys are happy.
"I'm really sorry, Namjoon. But I feel like this is the right path for me." Yoongi forces a small smile on his face. "Thanks for understanding."
"No problem. I- I hope you succeed in this new 'path', hyung. I really do." I clear my throat. "Uh- what about... what about Y/N? Do you still love her?"
Out of the blue, a tear falls slowly down his cheek. He wipes it away abruptly, but I could see the sadness in his eyes.
"Leaving her was the most painful thing I've ever done.
"But I will always love her."
Wah poor Yoongi :(
