Reader's POV

It is the night of the party, and I am having second thoughts.

"Jennie, I don't wanna be around so many drunk people." I say sitting on the edge of my bed as Jennie gets ready.

"Sweetie, don't worry." She sighs while zipping up her knee-high boots. "Just stay away from the drunk ones. Besides, they won't do much harm. I know my friends when they're drunk. They're totally harmless."

She looks at her completed outfit in the mirror, then she sees me sitting, still dressed in my pajamas.

"C'mon, hurry up! I don't wanna be late to my own party." She exclaims.

I sigh reluctantly and change into the black dress and denim jacket I bought yesterday, then I slip my feet into my black converse. Jennie pushes me into the bathroom and quickly does my makeup- a light, natural look with a thin cat eye, mascara, and lip balm.

She snatches her curling iron from the bathroom drawer and curls my hair into loose waves. I will always be impressed at how quickly she can give someone a makeover.

We look at ourselves in the mirror one last time, then we rush downstairs.

Just then, the doorbell rings. Jennie almost crashes against the door in her hurry, but she manages to open it with a sweet smile ready on her face.

Namjoon stands outside in the cool air, dressed in black ripped jeans, a white shirt, and a black blazer. His thumbs are hooked into the side of his jeans as he taps his shiny black dress shoe on the pavement. I giggle at how cool and smooth he looks.

"Hey, Namjoon." Jennie catches her breath. "Thank goodness you're not at the party yet. I was starting to worry that I'd be late to my own party. Imagine how embarrassing that would be!" She shivers at the thought.

Namjoon laughs softly. I smile as I admire the dimples that appear on his cheeks whenever he smiles or laughs. He sees me staring and I hastily look away.

I cup my face in my hands and feel the unusual warmth which could only mean one thing: I'm blushing. What's wrong with me?

Namjoon clears his throat, pulling me away from my thoughts.

"Um, I was thinking the three of us can just go to the party together." He says, pointing to his car parked in front of my apartment. "I was driving to Jennie's brother's house, then I remembered I'd pass by your apartment anyways."

"Sounds great!" Jennie and I say in unison. The three of us jump into Namjoon's car. For some reason, Jennie insisted that I sit in the passenger seat next to Namjoon.

As Namjoon drives smoothly through the evening streets, he keeps glancing over at me.

"You look nice." He smiles.

"Oh. Thanks." I chuckle. "You look nice too."

"Um, excuse me?" Jennie exclaims from the back seat. "What about me?"

The three of us burst into laughter. Jennie waves her hand in the air and rolls her eyes, smiling widely.

"It's ok, I understand." She giggles. "Sometimes you two act like you're the only two people in the world."

Silence fills the car. I bite my bottom lip and pick at my newly done nails.

Namjoon lets out an awkward laugh and turns on the radio.

Soon enough, the three of us are singing at the top of our voices, and everything is normal again.
