Reader's POV

Today Jennie is taking me shopping, because she says my style "isn't fit for parties."

We head to the shopping mall and she spots a store with mannequins clothed in tight dresses and stylish jackets. It isn't really my type, but I guess it's time for me to try something new.

"Here. Try this one." She holds out a sleeveless black dress.

"Isn't that too revealing?" I ask, taking the dress.

"Wear this too." She throws me a denim jacket.

I sigh and walk over to the fitting room.

I squeeze into the tight dress and stare at myself in the mirror. The dress wraps around my body so tight I can barely breath. The neckline is also a bit too low, and my legs feel cold. I try to pull the dress down, but that just makes the neckline lower.

I throw on the denim jacket. I shrug in satisfaction. The jacket looks and feels nice, but I'll find another dress.

I put my normal clothes back on and slip out of the fitting room, dropping the dress in the unwanted clothes bin. I am about to head over to the dress section again, but someone catches my eye.

Namjoon is looking through the pants in the men's section. His back is turned to me, but I can recognize him any day.

I smile and start walking towards him, but then I remember what happened that night at his house, when Yoongi and Jimin almost got into a fight. Namjoon and I haven't talked since.

I hope he's not mad at me for ignoring his texts and calls.

A feeling of awkwardness rushes over me and I begin to back away. At that moment, Namjoon turns around and sees me.

My feet are frozen on the ground and I wave awkwardly.

He looks shocked for a second, but he smiles warmly and waves back.

I take a deep breath and walk over to him, keeping my eyes on the ground as I approach him.

"Hi." I squeak.

"Hi, Y/N. How have you been?"

"Oh, I'm fine. How are you?" I finally look up at him.

He laughs nervously and rubs the back of his neck.

"Not much. I was just picking out clothes for Jennie's party." He holds up a pair of black ripped jeans. "You're going, right?"

"Yeah, I guess so." I chew on the inside of my cheek. Why do I suddenly feel so awkward around my best friend?

"Look, um." Namjoon lowers his voice and brings me to the corner of the shop, where we are hidden by clothing racks.

He clears his throat. "I just- wanted to... apologize. I'm sorry for what happened the other night."

I open my mouth to say something, but he holds up his hand.

"I'm really sorry. When I texted you to come over, Yoongi hyung arrived a few moments later without telling me, asking for help with his papers. Since you weren't replying, I assumed you were too busy to come over, so I let him in. And then I read your text saying you were coming over, and I didn't know what to do. Yoongi hyung and I were so busy with the papers and I forgot that the two of you just broke up."

He pauses and sighs. "I know you were mad at me. I'm sorry for putting you in such an uncomfortable and awkward situation. I promise it'll never happen again, ok? Please forgive me."

I stare up at him in shock. My heart aches at how much he worried about this issue, how much he cares.

"Namjoon... don't worry about it. I forgive you." I bite my bottom lip and add, "And I'm sorry for ignoring your texts and phone calls. I really wanted to talk to you, but I was still heartbroken and I needed some space."

Namjoon sighs in relief. "It's ok. Did you get the chance to talk to Yoongi hyung yet?"

I nod. "Yeah. We had closure. And he's going to Japan next week I think."

"Yeah. I talked to the others and told them to try to be understanding and try their best to support Yoongi hyung. After all, he's probably struggling with the changes in our careers too."

Sometimes I wonder how Namjoon handles all the stress and pressure of being the leader in such a calm, efficient way. I wish I could be as emotionally stable as him.

"I've missed you, Namjoon." I laugh and pull him into a hug. "Even though it was only a few days of not talking to each other, I can't go a day without talking to you."

"I've missed you too." He chuckles. "Now, can you help me choose my clothes? You know I'm really bad at this."

"I can help with that." Jennie appears out of nowhere. She turns to me. "I've been looking for you all over this place. Why are you two hiding? Anyways, since you didn't like the first dress, I found other ones. These are more comfortable, but still sexy."

She holds out around a dozen dresses, varying in color, material, and length.

"C'mon, try them on." She pushes me towards the fitting room as she drags Namjoon towards a selection of men's shoes.

"Now, you." I hear her talking to Namjoon as I walk to the fitting room. "I liked the style of what you wore at the Billboard Music Awards in America, you should follow that style for this party..."

I smile to myself. I'm so glad Namjoon and I talked, and things are back to normal again.

---

I end up picking a simple black slip dress that comes two inches above my knee- much longer than the tight black one I first tried on. The straps are thin, but I'll be wearing the denim jacket over it.

For the rest of the day, Namjoon, Jennie, and I spent time with each other at the mall. We ate snacks, went window shopping, and played a few arcade games.

It was the most fun I've had in a while, probably because I was with the two friends I love the most.

Now that I think about it, I'm actually kind of excited for the party tomorrow. I haven't been in big parties since my university days, so this should be fun.

Besides, what's the worse that could happen?
