Chapter 12 - Bonding and Killing

Evie opened her eyes and saw the blank white ceiling. She sat up wearily, and checked the time.

5 AM.

She groaned. No point in trying to go back to sleep now. She got up and headed into the kitchen where she got out the eggs. The cook wasn't awake either, so maybe she could make something reasonable to eat.

She started to crack open the eggs into the bowl.

When Kuai woke up, he was confused.

He could smell food being cooked, but he could also hear something else.

Singing.

There was soft music playing, and someone was singing to the music. He got out of bed, dressed, and went to investigate. He was not prepared for what he saw.

There in the kitchen was Evie. It seemed like she was the one who was cooking breakfast, and she was singing.

She had a wooden spoon in her hand, that acted as a microphone, and was singing the lyrics to St. Jimmy by Green Day. At the end of the song, she slid on the ground on her knees, and ended on that pose. The timer rang.

"Just in time!" She said. She got up to hee feet and made her way to the pancake turner and pulled them out.

By this time, everyone had woken up, and had at least seen some of the show that had just taken place. Cassie grinned and looked pointedly at Jacqui.

"Told you Green Day is better than Guns n' Roses."

After breakfast, Evie was going to train for the match that day when an announcement stated that the match was canceled due to the storm. It was predicted to last a week.

"This is his doing. He's planning something." Evie warned.

"There's nothing we can do. It is you who is in the tournament right now. Our interference would cause trouble." Ko'tal Kahn replied.

"Lightning man tricky! Torr squish face!" Terra was still sore about the harm that Raiden had done to their ranks.

"On a brighter note, we can spend time together!" Cassie was holding an empty glass soda pop bottle.

"We do not like where this is going." Ermac was genuinely afraid.

"Truth or Dare!" Jacqui exclaimed. "You have to do the dare or truth, or you will have to steal Mileena's underwear. Got it?"

Lots of disagreeable murmurs.

Takeda spun first. It landed on Jin. He seemed scared. "Jin. Truth or dare?"

"Truth." Jin had done a dare issued by Takeda before. He had been trying to wash lipstick off of his face for the following week.

"Of all the people in this room, who would you rather have sex with?"

Evie facepalmed. "I should have slept in today." She thought.

Kung Jin slowly turned red. "Uh..." He muttered something.

"Speak up!" Sonya was enjoying this.

"I said Black, alright!" Realizing his mistake at shouting this, Jin covered his mouth with both hands, although it was too late.

After the laughter died, Jin spun the bottle. "Fujin, truth or dare?"

The god of wind hesitated. "Dare?"

"I dare you to wear Sonya's first outfit for the rest of the game."

A few moments later, he came out of the dressing room wearing Sonya's MK1 outfit. There were many stuffed chuckles. Fujin sighed and spun the bottle.

"Kenshi, truth or dare?" Kenshi immediately replied with truth.

"Who do you have a crush on?" Takeda stared at his father. Kenshi hesitated. "I have a small crush on Li Mei."

Lots of "aww"s were heard. Li Mei was clearly blushing. Kenshi spun the bottle with his powers. "Hanzo, truth or dare?"

He hesitated. "Truth."

"What were you like as a child?" Kenshi had a visible smirk.

Hanzo glared. "I was hotheaded and stubborn. I didn't listen to my elders, and I caused trouble. Happy?"

"He's still hotheaded." Evie communicated telepathically with everyone except for the person she was addressing, raising suppressed smiles.

The bottle landed on Kuai. "Truth or Dare?" He answered truth.

"Who do you have a crush on?" Hanzo was triumphant. Almost like he knew something.

Kuai's usually pale face heated up. It was almost comical. He stuttered in a way that was unlike the stoic and calm demeanor of the Lin Kuei Grandmaster. "Umm, well... I like- "

His sentence was cut off by a sudden explosion.

Evie stood up. "I need to go."

Raiden was there. He was standing in the center of a crater, and with him were other allies of his.

Mileena, Shang Tsung, Kano, Frost and Tremor were still with him, but there was now Noob Saibot along with four shadow figures that nobody recognized. Raiden smirked.

"Remember your family?" He gestured at the shadow people. Evie gasped in realization. Her father and her sisters...

She stepped into the middle, and so did her family.

"You murdered us!" Her oldest sister spoke.

"Left us for dead! You betrayed us!", the second oldest spoke.

"I knew you were trouble." The second youngest sister spoke. "You always were intentionally giving reasons for dad to punish us."

"You killed us, and made us stronger than you can possibly imagine." Her father spoke.

"You killed your family?" Johnny was shocked.

Evie snarled. "Stay back." She readied her sword again. The Outworld forces were about to stop her when Raiden sent his minions to attack them. Evie shook her head. This is not them.

She whirled around and struck one in the neck, killing them. She then stabbed one in the gut, and another in the heart. She made her way to her father, who was scared.

"You always had me cower in fear. How does it feel now that the tables have turned?" She drew her gun and shot him in the head and then the neck. They were finally dead.

And then everything was quiet. There was no more sounds of fighting. She was about to turn around when she felt a pain in her chest.

Looking down, she saw the tip of an ice sword protruding from her chest. She gasped in shock, and it was ripped out of her body. She was then attacked by the combined telekinesis of Kenshi and Takeda, and was frozen. Her first thought was that they had some other influence behind their attacks, but it was evident that they thought she was a murderer. She unfroze, but was immediately reeled in by Scorpion's kunai, and was upercutted. Green balls of energy along with pink energy beams hit her in the air, and when she fell to the ground, she was attacked by Cassie's kali sticks and Jacqui's fists. This whole time, Kung Jin had shot arrows that found its target every time.

She wanted to tell them that she had no choice when she killed her family, that they were evil, but the constant attacks made her forget what she was trying to say.

In the distance, she saw Fujin performing a cleansing ritual with Bo' Rai Cho and Li Mei holding Raiden down. She was frozen once again, and with an ice slide performed by Sub-Zero, she was sent over the edge of the cliff, into the water.
