My hands were cold and wet, submerged in mud as I fought to push myself up. My brain could no longer decipher the situation, since the electric feeling that filled me moments ago was gone, and I was left shaking. The fabric of my jeans soaked the water beneath them sending more chills through me. Slowly I crawled forward, there was no hope, no white light or guardian angel; only the light drizzle of rain and the absent sun's shadow. I couldn't see well as my tears mixed with the rain, my hair sticking to my face and neck in clumps.
I wanted to blubber, my lips twitching as tears filled my mouth, the situation had finally unfolded, and I knew what was coming. I inhaled both water and air as I continued to crawl, despite all odds being against me. My hiccuped sobs and the rush of rainwater was all I could hear.
My eyelids refused to give in to sleep until the last second, I was to see the cruel sky one last time. Slowly the sun began to peak out from behind the clouds, it's mockingly bright and warm light enveloping me.
And then there was black.
