~~~ Lunch with Chiyo's mother
They were sitting around a low table in the dining room. Sam wasn't happy since he wasn't used to not having a chair to sit in. In this case they had a cushion and not much else. It made his knees want to grumble at him as they were sitting on the floor. What bothered him was at the table were the four of them, some humans, and the ghosts, "So, how did you end up living with humans who know about you?" He had to ask that since it was so odd to see people sitting with ghosts.
The one girl howled at him and rattled her chains at her. Sam had to groan and facepalm, "Not at lunch darn it. It's bad enough having you show up in class and chain me to my desk. Give me a break for the day."
"We've lived here for generations and they purchased the property several generations ago. It took some time but we worked it out." She smiled at one of the ladies at the table. She was the oldest and worked with them to keep any problems to a minimum.
Her mother looked at her and then at him, "What do you mean Samantha? Why would my girls be howling at you and rattling chains at you?" She honestly looked confused before she glowered at the little dog thing and howled at it.
When she did Jewel gave her a hard look, "He was just scared and hungry. Don't howl at him again. Such a cute little puppy. Poor little boy and to have such a horrible name hung on you." She petted several of his heads before giving each a small bite of meat. When he growled at the ghost she tapped a nose, "No, be good or else. You did do damage to her house, though she also howled at you. Both of you need to relax and accept both were in the wrong." She fed him a bit more since she didn't want him to get a tummy ache from over feeding him.
"It's so wrong for you to be pampering that... Um... Dog thing." When he was growled as he resisted the urge to lift Sue and threaten him with it. Instead he turned to Chiyo's mother, "If you call me Samantha again I'll deal with you. It's Sam damn it! Your daughter and several of her friends were having too much fun howling and rattling at me. I told Adrian to tell them their howls and chains were cute, and they'd love it. He turned the tables and told them I'd told him to say that. Now I don't just have little girl ghosts howling at me but some boys howling at me. I ended up placing a warding around our floor." He sighed when he said that. It didn't stop the boys though they tended to be more amused than the girls. Having them soaking in the bath was odd but as long as they didn't howl he'd deal with it.
Their mother stared at him before she almost dissolved as she started laughing, "You deserve it for that Sam but I'll talk to them about it. I'll ensure they keep the howling and rattling to times when it isn't to inconvenient for you. I'll take care of it for you." She had to howl at the dog thing which got her a growl back.
~~~ At Sam's house
On the train to his house they encountered the older woman again. He glowered at her, "No goosing me this time. I discussed it with my girlfriend and I'm sorry but I'm off limits. Well unless it's a really good meal and such."
Sakura thumped him, "Remember I have your collar and leash. I decide what is going to happen!" It had formed again, and she gave it a good shake as she glowered at him.
The woman laughed, "I'll resist but might still invite you and the others over for a meal. Might be amusing." She bumped Sam with her hip and gave Sakura a good look, "Might have to discuss the cost of usage with you."
Everyone started laughing at the teasing. It was amusing, and they started chatting with her. They didn't realize she knew Sato until it came up and they were impressed. Once they were off the train Sam groaned, "Damn it! She goosed me again. I'm not even going to look in my pocket this time!"
