Chapter 29

~Jamie Lakewood~

    I started to stir awake at the sound of a voice. "No mom, she's fine. You can come in a couple hours. No, no mom, she's still asleep. Yes, she is doing fine." I heard Liz on the phone. I felt a small device on my finger, to monitor my blood pressure and a IV tube on my other arm.

    My head felt as if it weighed a ton. I groaned and I opened my eyes a slit. "Jamie?" Elizabeth called. "Jamie? You're okay, everything is fine." I opened my eyes completely to find Elizabeth staring down at me with a small smile.

    I was in a hospital. "What happened?" I said with a groan. Elizabeth "William... he... uhhh... tried to... uhhhmmm... rape you..." she said slowly, adding emphasis on the word rape. I touched my nose which had a small tube around my face, to help me breathe or something. "Where... the others.... Hunter..." I said, skipping words from pain. A doctor walked into the room "Hello, Jamie, my name is Dr. Roberts I'll be your doctor for the time being." I tried to nod but the pain was too horrible "Hi, I'll... okay?" I managed to croak out. She nodded "You're fine but you dealt with a big amount of shock. On a scale of 1 to 10 how bad is your pain?" she explained. "Uhhh... 8 1/2" I said, my voice cracking.

    Dr. Roberts asked a couple basic questions and I managed to choke out answers. She turned to me before she left "Oh, there is a young man out in the waiting room, he seems pretty anxious to see you. Should I send him in?" I smiled a bit, Hunter is anxious... to see me? "Yes please, I'd like to see him as well." I said as politely as I could with my voice.

    Hunter walked in a couple minutes later and Elizabeth made an excuse to get us all some frozen yogurt. Hunter pulled up a chair by my hospital bed and held my hand with the little clip on my finger. "I thought I lost you." he said softly. "I can never..." I tried to swallow with my cotton dried mouth, "...leave you." I finished.

    He smiled and handed me a small white bear that has his scent on it. I smiled and I teared up when I squeezed it, a voice saying 'I Love You'.  A nurse came in "Hi Miss Lakewood, I'm here to take some blood and answer and questions you have." she said with a smile.

    "How long am I gonna be here? And please, call me Jamie." I asked. She thought about it and answered when she started taking blood. "A couple days I believe. You faced major shock, is all. Your blood pressure had risen to a point none of us had seen possible. However, you're doing fine now but we need to make sure you have healed from the shock. I recommend that you Do not go to school for about a week or so."

    I slightly nodded "I'll make sure Jamie doesn't leave the comforts of her home for a week." Hunter chimed in. The nurse nodded "I'll be back in a couple hours," and with that she left. I groaned and Hunter looked at me, raising one eyebrow. "I have to deal with a couple days of needles?" I mumbled. He chuckled, taking my hand and kissing my knuckles "You'll be fine, plus I already broke William's nose and gave him a pretty swollen eye."

    For about an hour, Hunter and I talked. I slowly drifted off to sleep as soon as Hunter left, by then Elizabeth came in with clothes, my phone, and stuff like that. A couple days in this sterile building. God, I hate hospitals. I knew I wouldn't be able to sleep in this house of hurt, but eventually I slept about an hour or two.
