Runaway Thoughts

Garnet

As soon as the sun came down and my parents were out of sight, I went out the back door. I could just picture the look of her sister's face when Emerald sees her. Emerald will start crying saying she was sorry, while I just sits there saying it wasn't her fault, while also crying a river of tears.Well that's exactly what had happened when I had found her. I had found Emerald in a chilled and dark cellar with soft fuzzy mold covering the walls. It looked as if it had been abandoned for a while now. We both sat quietly for an hour, maybe two before getting up. Emerald had told me about her survival the last couple weeks and how she came to find this place. Apparently she had escaped and idiot of an officer. Emerald couldn't even get through a sentence without me bursting up laughing and rolling all over the floor again.

" I'm serious Garnet, we need to leave this place." Emerald scolded.

"Why? I don't get why we need to leave. Why do you hate the government so much? What has the government done to you that's made you run off?" I pleaded.

" Well....the government has sent somebody named Dr. Clementine to come and collect you and I."

" But, why? And how do you know this"

"Remember that day I served detention?" Em asked as I nodded, " I got detention for stealing some files, our files, yours and mine. It was thick, full of everything about us. It had said something about strange things happening around us."

"Oh...." I muttered slowly.

"They contacted the head scientist in the government and they agreed to do some experiments on us."

"Then...we need to run. Far away from here."

"At least across the wall, then we can start a new life-"

"A better life." I finished for Emerald, as she had stopped.

"Yes. And we need to leave. NOW." Em had grabbed me by the hand and pulled it towards the exit.
