Chapter 19: Peora Anep

As Sol and Yang enter into battle with Zuri, Karmin manages to sneak past the pair and enter into the haven that the spider Grimm have called home for years. She saunters towards the giant Bone Widow Queen and the small, black haired girl next to it with a small smirk on her face.

[Karmin] "Peora Anep. A pleasure to finally meet you."

The spider Grimm reacts to the name called by forcing a deadly glare towards the mysterious, female intruder.

[Peora] "You know my name. And you dare intrude upon our home smelling of that witch. Who are you?"

Karmin chuckles slightly at the large spiders obvious question.

[Karmin] "I am a daughter of Ryusan, and I've come to ask whether you and your brood would consider joining us. Of course, that includes your adorable little daughter there."

Ariana tenses as their red eyes meet each other. An odd sense of both familiarity and pure dread exuding from the woman in front of her.

[Peora] "I will consider. Now leave."

Once again, a short, haughty chuckle resonates through the arachnid infested area.

[Karmin] "I don't believe you understand how this works. You and your family either join now, or die. It's really quite simple."

Karmin points the orb on her staff towards Ariana who quickly prepares to get out of the way, should the woman actually dare to attack in this place.

[Peora] "You think to threaten my daughter? You've sealed your fate."
[Karmin] "Hmph."

Karmin readies her staff, pressing down a small button which causes sharp blades to extend from the bottom of the shaft, digging into the ground.

[Karmin] "We shall see who's fate has been sealed."

The cacophony of smaller spider Grimm descend upon the pale woman. A confident smirk floats onto Karmin's face as the orb atop her staff begins to glow orange. The spiders continue to make their way towards the woman, ignorant of the danger before them. Karmin swings her staff around, slicing a few of the Grimm with her blade and burning the rest as flames are expelled from her staff. The previously impending stampede of spiders is roasted, while those that remain scuttle away in fear.

[Karmin] "You were saying?"

Karmins smirk is quickly replaced by a surprised grunt as a gunshot resounds. Barely able to block the incoming projectile with the shaft of her staff, she stares angrily towards the source of the attack. Ariana stands beside her mother, shaking as smoke trails out of the barrel of the carbon black handgun in her trembling hands.

[Peora] "Where...Did you get that?"
[Karmin] "Yes, you really shouldn't be playing around with an adults toy."
[Peora] "Answer me Ariana! Where did you get that!?"
[Ariana] "A woman...wanted to hunt us...I stopped her..."
[Peora] "You...did you kill them?"
[Ariana] "N-no!"
[Peora] "...I'm glad. Now, my daughter, please leave this place."
[Ariana] "Wha-No!"
[Peora] "Aria-"
[Ariana] "No! I'm staying with mother!"
[Peora] "When on Remnant did you become so stubborn."
[Ariana] "Eheh"
[Peora] "Fine, but stay behind me at all times. And promise me you will run if things go bad."
[Ariana] "I...I promise."
[Karmin] "Well, isn't this touching. A loving mother willing to do anything to protect her daughter. Actually, just the thought of it makes me sick."
