Chapter 11: Revenge is a Poison

[Ruby] "I've been replaced by a spider..."

Ruby mutters in an audible whisper as she slouches, staring at the pair consisting of Ryu and the little arachnid tag-along.

[Nora] "oh don't mind it. I mean sure~ it's a little creepy, but hey! Who'd ever pick an insect over you?"

With Nora's words of encouragement, Ruby straightens herself up and runs actively to the head of the group.

[Ren] "Arachnid."
[Ruby] "huh?"

Ren speaks up before Ruby has a chance.

[Ren] "Spiders are arachnids. Not insects."
[Ruby] "um..."
[Ren] "an easy distinction between them would be that arachnids generally have eight legs, while insects don't."
[Nora] "they're all bugs though, right?"
[Ren] "well, yes."
[Nora] "then I can still squish 'em!"

The loud girls words reach Ryu's ears, causing him to reaffirm to his new friend that he wouldn't let anyone squish him. In response, the little spider crawls into the black haired boys jacket, hiding itself from anyone that might wish to harm it.

[Ruby] "gu-"
[Jaune] "uh, so what is it, exactly? I mean, I know it looks like a spider but, it's still a Grimm."
[Ruby] "Oka-"
[Ren] "that's a good point actually. We've just been calling it a spider but its species has its own name right?"
[Ryu] "yeah, he is a Bone Widow. Or, to be more exact, a Bone Widow Child."
[Ruby] "wil-"
[Nora] "so it's only a kid?"
[Ryu] "yeah. There's three types. Children, Workers, and the Queen."

By this point, Ruby has become fed up with her teammates, and more specifically, her boyfriend, ignoring her attempts to join the conversation.

[Ruby] "GUYS!!"
[Nora] "whoa, what's got you all heated?"
[Jaune] "yeah Ruby, there's no need to shout."
[Ruby] "wha-you-ahhh!"

Red faced and angry, Ruby turns on her heels and stomps off ahead, leaving everyone else behind.

[Ren] "we should probably follow after her."
[Ryu] "Right."

The rest of the team chases after Ruby, however, having used her semblance, Ruby has already gained quite a distance on her friends. She now stands at the edge of yet another empty town. She gazes at the abandoned area she finds herself in, turning her head back to see that she's currently alone.

[Ruby] "Maybe I should wait for the others...No! They ignored me so I'll ignore them!"

Following this train of thought the upset girl saunters through the town. Not long after she enters, she hears the sound of voices. Bored and angry voices that echo softly throughout the buildings.

[Male Voice] "How much longer do we have to wait?"
[Female voice] "not much longer. Apparently the silver eyed girl ran off, so she should at least be here soon."
[Male voice] "I hope so. My baby's gonna get rusty if we have to wait any longer."

Ruby hides herself, peering over the rubble to look for the source of the voices, eventually spotting three people, one woman and two men with white hair and red eyes all sitting around, twiddling their thumbs in anticipation.

[Female Voice] "Hello there~"

A venomous voice whispers into Ruby's ears, startling her and forcing her to jump away, preparing herself for a fight with her scythe at the ready. In front of Ruby, stands a woman wearing black and purple light armour with white hair tied back into a pony tail and red, reptilian eyes.
