Rwby: Child of Grimm: Volume 4

Chapter 22: Three Times the Harm pt.3

[Three] "Die!"

The raging storm that is Three, stares down the team of Huntsmen with astonishing killing intent. The air through the village seems to change directions constantly, sizzling at times.

[Jaune] "I don't think it worked."
[Ryu] "This Wind...I can barely hold my ground."

Without wasting any time, Nora charges at the raging boy, aiming her weapon directly at his face. The hammers head seems much slower and perhaps because of that, Three is able to easily catch the weapon with a single hand, before slamming it and Nora into the ground, creating a small crater where the girl's body hit the floor. In the heat of the moment, Ren charges with haste towards their opponent, only to receive Nora's body to his own as Three swings her towards him with unimaginable ease. The two tumble across the ground before slamming against the nearby rubble.

[Nora] "Owwww..."

The remaining three members all motion to charge at the glowing boy but Three's eyes dart towards them knowingly. A hand motion is all it takes for a vortex of wind to rise from beneath them, threatening to ensnare them in its twisting vacuum. Ruby quickly pushes the blonde boy out of harms way as the twister successfully captures her and Ryu, separating them from the others and effectively removing them from the fight.

[Jaune] "Wha-Guys!?"

Jaune's cries are deafened by the roaring winds while Ren and Nora continue to fight against the gale force of each attack sent their way by the boy progressively gaining more and more power.

[Three] "Insects! Just die!"

The pair are forced to focus purely on evading as each blast of wind tears, cuts and crushes everything they come in contact with. Any bullets fired towards him simply rebound off of the green wind while the pink grenades launched by Nora explode on contact with the same ravenous walls of wind. Meanwhile, within the vortex of wind that continues to spiral towards the sky, Ruby and Ryu slash at the air, trying desperately to escape and rejoin the fight.

[Ryu] "Damn it! We need to get back out there!"

Ruby nods her head in agreement, shooting at the wind tunnel to no avail. As the bullets are swept up into the storm and carried through, Ruby makes a face as if a lightbulb suddenly turned on in her head. An idea had surfaced.

[Ruby] "Hey, Ryu?"
[Ryu] "Yeah?"
[Ruby] "I think I know how to get out of this."

Ryu displays a hopeful look towards the girl as she presses her index fingers together awkwardly.

[Ruby] "The thing is..."
[Ryu] "hm? What is it?"

Ruby explains her idea to Ryu who focuses all of his attention on the girl so that he doesn't miss any information while the vortex of wind continues to swirl around the pair.

[Ryu] "That could work."
[Ruby] "Really?"
[Ryu] "Yeah."

As Ryu responds, he places his hand on Ruby's head and ruffles her hair for a moment, causing a blush to surface on her face.

[Ryu] "Here."
[Ruby] "Huh?"

Ryu removes his hand from her head and offers to hold hers to which she responds by placing her hand in his. A red glow emanates from the boy's eyes as his crimson aura spreads to Ruby.
