I hear a voice, I can't make out what it's saying but it's saying something. Then I hear the loud boisterous voice of Zeb, "Just get in there would you?!"

The voice says something and the door opens, and I see him. A tanned boy, he's tall, well, taller than me anyway, his hair is bluish black. And his eyes, a brilliant deep blue, more of a dazzling purple.

We stare at each other for a moment until Zeb pushes him inside and chuckles. "Just make sure she stays out of trouble."

He tumbles into the room, falling over. I jump up and I sit myself across from him. "Is he like that often or just on his good days?"

Ezra laughs making me smile, but I just can't stop staring at his eyes, they look like stars. "Yeah, but he's cool, sometimes. He cares at least, he just has a funny way of showing it."

I smile slightly, "Sounds a lot like my brother." I close my eyes, trying to remember what he looked like, sounded like.

Then Ezra interrupts my thoughts, "You have a family?" he asks, looking through me with those huge, hypnotizing eyes.

"No," I say bluntly, "No family."

"Oh..." he hesitates, resting his arms on his legs, "I don't either."

"What happened to them?" we both ask. We smile and laugh slightly.

"You first," we say in unison. "No you. Okay stop." I frown and laugh, he laughs too.

"You first," I say, pulling my knees to my chest putting my arms on top of them, resting my head and staring at him with wide, curious green eyes.

He looks at me, he looks away, then looks back at me, almost as if he didn't want to tell me, then slowly convinced himself to. "My parents are gone, they died fighting the Empire, like I'm doing now," he says, rubbing his knees.

A concerned frown burrows its way on my face. "I-I'm sorry...." I smile slightly at him with a look I hope is reassurance. "Mine died too, it was years ago..."

"Oh..."

"They fought the Empire too," I explain, resting my hands on my knees, holding my head up. "They were murdered because of it."

"I'm sorry to hear that..." Ezra says quietly.

"I never really knew them... so it's hard to miss someone you barely knew."

He smiles at me with his beautiful eyes, he looks at me like he can't stop looking at me, I cover my face with my hair, feeling extremely awkward. Trying to break the silence he asks, "And your brother?"

"Who knows," my knees drop and I sit cross legged on the floor, "I don't know if he's dead, or missing, or he just... left."

"He wouldn't have left you."

"I don't know. People are surprising these days... one day you think you'll never be separated. Next thing you know they drop you like a pair of overheated suppressors."

I can feel Ezra looking at me, but I ignore him and stare at my feet and play with my hands. "The only person I miss is my brother..." I continue. I don't know why I'm talking so much, he's just so easy to talk to, I think his eyes have magical powers or something. "He was my best friend..." Tears try to escape my eyes but I blink fast, forcing them away.

I know Ezra is smiling at me, he rests his hand on my shoulder, I look up and turn to where his hand meets my shoulder. I feel a connection to him, it's a good feeling, warm, light, my heart beats a mile a minute. I never want him to let go.

All of a sudden I hear the slider doors open and Ezra quickly pulls his hand away, taking the feeling of warmth and light with him. We turn and see Sabine standing in the doorway, she smirks and leans against the post. Her helmet under her arm. She snickers, "What are you two doing in here, all alone, sitting on the floor?"
