You sighted, tired. School was such a drag. Why did you have to wake up early, go to a place overflowing with angsty teens, and sit for six or more hours hearing teachers drone on? Plus, the food was sh*tty. It was a typical school day, nothing more and nothing less. Lunch was approaching quite slow , as the teacher kept droning on and on about science. It was truly such a bore.

You sluggishly looked at the clock, seeing the second hand stay in the same place for more than five seconds. Was the clock not working, or were you stuck in a miserable time loop? You hoped that wasn't the case. You stopped looking at the malfunctioning clock, and lazily glanced at the window. It was such a nice day outside, the sky was a brilliant ocean blue and there wasn't even a cloud in the sky.

You let out another sigh, today was truly perfect. Too bad you couldn't enjoy it, instead locked in a classroom full of exasperated students and a lame teacher. When was this going to end? The teacher asked,"Do you all understand?", while all the students absentmindedly nodded. It didn't matter if they actually did or not, they just wanted out.

You glanced at the clock once again, only to see five minutes had gone by. It was then that you realized how cruel this world was. You knew how f*cked up humanity was, cruelly sticking you in a place against your will; punishing you if you didn't want to bend to their will. You let out a wretched groan, as you saw your life pass by you quick. It was infuriating to say the least. So, as you sat miserably in your cold, plastic seat, you waited for the bell to ring in the longest five minutes of your life.

At long last, the bell to lunch rang. Everyone stood up from their seats as one, and rushed out of the stuffy room. The teacher huffed, and mumbled to themselves,"Thank God, I don't think I can last much longer.. I need to get my smoke break". A gleeful smile broke into your pale visage, you looked like a worn down old person that had survived many hardships over the years. You quickly went to your locker, where you grabbed your lunch, and ran to the commons. You scanned the room for any signs of your friends, where you found them near the edge of the lunch tables. They were already sitting down, happily chatting among themselves.

You made your way over to them quickly, and sat down in an empty chair. They turned to look at you, and cheerfully said,"Hey!". You smiled gratefully at them, and said,"Hey". Your best friend, (b/f), quirked an eyebrow, and said"Um, are you ok?". You took a bite of your sandwich, and said,"Yep, never been better", you swallowed the sandwich piece,"Why?". They laughed, and said,"Did you realize how f*cked up the world was again?". You smiled playfully, and said,"How'd you guess?".

They sarcastically shrugged, and said,"Well, I remembered how dramatic you are. Really, you should be in the drama club!". You laughed along with them, and said,"Oh shush" while playfully nudging their shoulder with your own. You continued to talk to your friends while eating your sandwich, meanwhile wishing lunch would never end. Sadly, it did, and you were disappointed. Oh well, tomorrow is another day.

You threw away your trash, and turned to leave. Before you left, though, you turned around and waved goodbye to your friend with your left hand. You turned to leave, when you hear your friends shout at you. You were confused, did something happen? You turned to your friend's direction, coming face to face with (b/f). You let out a tiny gasp, and took a step back. They looked excited, and you raised an eyebrow.

Your friend's eyes were shining, and they were mumbling a bit crazily,"My child has found their soulmate! This is truly a moment to celebrate... Their soulmate has to be respectful towards them or I will kick their @ss.. I swear I will do it..". You were a bit afraid, did school do this to them? Your eyes welled up with tears, this was unacceptable. School had taken away one of your most precious treasures, and now you won't ever get them back.

You looked down, clenching your fists and teeth. You were broken out of your little drama by your friend, who had stopped muttering like a crazy old hag. You said,"Um, (b/f)... Are you ok? What were you saying earlier?". They were smiling like they'd just won the lottery, and said,"(y/n).. Have you realized what's on your left wrist?".

You shook your head no, and glanced down at your left wrist. What was there left you speechless. There were just a couple letters, nothing too serious. But, it was still really significant to you. You had always thought you wouldn't meet your soulmate, as many of your friends had already met theirs, while you had been left behind in the dirt to suffer. Even your own best friend had already found theirs, an amazing person who you knew was someone great for them. It made you truly happy to see your friend happily in love, but it also pained you in the inside to be left behind to suffer.. alone.

Your eyes truly did well up with tears this time, and you gave a watery smile. A few tears escaped your eyes, but you quickly wiped them away. (b/f) hugged you, and comforted you. The minute bell rung, and the two of you jumped apart. Both of your eyes widened, and the two of you synchronized together,"Oh sh*t!". You ran to math class, while (b/f) ran to study hall.

You somehow managed to get there on time, and slid across to your seat. You landed with a plop, and immediately felt your heart explode from the vigorous exercise you had just done. You were already preparing your speech,"I would like to thank everyone here tonight. All of you encouraged me to make it on record time to class, and you all witnessed it happen. I couldn't have done it without you guys. I would like to dedicate this award to my mother, who's always been there. Thank you" *mic drop*.

Anyways, you should probably be listening to the teacher; but your mind's somewhere else. The teacher looks at all of you to check that all of you are paying attention. They make eye contact with everyone in the classroom, including you. Once the teacher is satisfied, they continue on with the lesson. Everyone lets out a breath, and then you smile blissfully. You check that the teacher isn't focused on you, and look at your left wrist. Your smile widened at seeing the neat and elegant handwriting on the inside of your wrist.

You tried to inference what type of person he was, due to his handwriting. Was he elegant, like his handwriting indicated? You chewed the inside of your cheek, wondering. Suddenly, the teacher glares at you, and asks you to solve the problem on the board. The problem was,"In one state, 52% of the voters are Republicans, and 48% are Democrats. In a second state, 47% of the voters are Republicans, and 53% are Democrats. Suppose a simple random sample of 100 voters are surveyed from each state. What is the probability that the survey will show a greater percentage of Republican voters in the second state than in the first state?".

Seeing you at a loss, the teacher smiled triumphantly, and said,"As Miss (l/n) has demonstrated, that is why you should pay attention. This is your senior year of high school, and we have already covered this material. You should be able to solve this problem easily, Miss (l/n).. Where did all that intellect go?". The class laughs at your expense, and the teacher even snickers at their own joke. Your cheeks burn in embarrassment, but then you really look at the board. Oh, the problem was easy.

As the teacher and class continued to laugh, you blurted out,"0.24". The class stops laughing, and the teacher narrows their eyes. They say through gritted teeth,"Would you care to elaborate, Miss (l/n)?". You smirk at the teacher and respond,"For this analysis, let P1 = the proportion of Republican voters in the first state, P2 = the proportion of Republican voters in the second state, p1 = the proportion of Republican voters in the sample from the first state, and p2 = the proportion of Republican voters in the sample from the second state. The number of voters sampled from the first state (n1) = 100, and the number of voters sampled from the second state (n2) = 100. n1P1 = 100 * 0.52 = 52, n1(1 - P1) = 100 * 0.48 = 48, n2P2 = 100 * 0.47 = 47, and n2(1 - P2) = 100 * 0.53 = 53 are each greater than 10. Find the mean of the difference in sample proportions: E(p1 - p2) = P1 - P2 = 0.52 - 0.47 = 0.05. Find the standard deviation of the difference...".

You continued to explain, and when you're done, the teacher's fuming at you. They make an ugly expression, but leave you alone for the rest of the period. You look at your friend that sits next to you, and quietly laugh as you see her mark one more tally for you having won this battle against the teacher.
