"YOONA!!!" My cousin Ho Sook screamed as she pulled me into a tight hug. She was hugging me so tight it felt like she was going to crush my ribs. She began babbling in Korean about how much she missed me and asking me questions about America. I could see Cyrus, who was still sleepy, standing there awkwardly.
"Ho Sook, this is my friend Cyrus I said stepping aside."
She bowed to him and shook his hand.
"Thank you for taking good care of my Yoona." she smiled. She jogged upstairs and quickly returned holding my second cousin with her husband following behind her.
"Minho got so big!" I said putting the toddler on my hip.
"Annyeoung Noona" he said hugging my neck.
Sook's husband, Jae-Sun, came over and hugged my free arm. After getting situated I'd explained to them why I was back in Korea.
"...Jae-Hwa...?" Ho Sook began, "Oh yeah! That boy that you'd always be with. I haven't heard any recent news but I did hear that he was in some sort of gang trouble." she scratched her head.
"Gang trouble?" I gasped. It was hard seeing him as the gang type. 'He couldn't have possibly done anything wrong.'
"Ye," she replied, "I think he owed money to someone or something and got caught up in that mess. Ever since then I haven't heard a word about him." she shrugged.
I began to panic, 'What if he's dead? What if he's not even in Korea?'
I cleared my throat, "Do you know where he might be?" I asked.
"Ehhh...probably his hometown. He's definitely not in Seoul though." she sighed.
"Aish..." I huffed.
I pushed myself out of my chair and said that we'd come back tomorrow. Right now I was going to show Cyrus around Korea.
"Annyeoun!" Minho said, waving his arm around.
"Aigoo..." I said slouching over in the passenger side.
"Cheer up, because you are not gonna show me Korea like this." Cyrus snapped.
"Oh alright."
I directed him to this restaurant my friend and I always used to go to when I lived here.
"Long time no see." I said taking my seat at the counter.
"YOONA!!" Da Wook yelled when he faced me.
"What brings you back to Seoul?" he asked.
I told him I was just showing Cyrus around Korea for the first time.
Cyrus nudged me, "hey, what's he saying?" he asked in a hushed tone.
I bopped his head, "He was wondering why I was in Korea, now hurry and order, I'm hungry."
Da Wook had already knew what I wanted since I used to come so often. He told me even after I left he'd still make my favorite everyday.
"That's so sweet." I swooned.
He blushed and wiped the sweat from his brow and walked back into the kitchen. He came back carrying both of our plates and drinks. He also gave me a wad of envelopes
"What's this?" I asked flipping it over to examine the back.
"Just read them later today." he said patting my hand.
I shrugged my shoulders, payed, and left along with Cyrus. Our next stop was karaoke.
When we got to the karaoke I began flipping through the song list while Cyrus ordered us drinks. The first song I picked was "The Boys" by SNDS. Cyrus cheered me on throughout the whole song and I bowed when I finished. I handed the mic over to him and waited for him to pick his song.
"Hey," he whined, "No fair! All these songs are in Korean!" he whined louder.
"Well we are in Korea..." I said shaking my head. He shrugged and put on "Lucifer" by SHINee. Instead of singing to it, since he didn't know the lyrics, he danced the entire song. I stood up and clapped dramatically. I sang about for more songs while Cyrus danced until be both were tired.
"So where to now?" he asked.
"Dunno," I replied, "It's only 6:50."
"We could go to this club that a friend of mine works at." I said.
"LET'S GO GIRL!" Cyrus yelled slamming on the gas causing my head to smack into the headrest.
We ran into a couple of my friends and talked for a while when we were there. We'd danced so much my legs had felt like noodles when we got to the hotel. I had Cyrus carry me into the room and throw me on my bed. I rolled over so I was laying on my tummy.
"So, how was your first day in Korea?" I asked.
"Pretty darn exciting. I loved the club, we'll have to go there again." Cyrus smiled.
I laughed and pushed myself off the bed. I quickly changed into my sweatpants and tank top in the bathroom. After putting my hair in a bun I returned to the room the find Cyrus sprawled out on his bed fast asleep. I chuckled and flopped onto my bed. Just as I was about to go to sleep I remembered the envelopes. I grabbed them and flipped one open. It was a letter to me from Jae-Hwa.
