Life in the apocalypse (On hold)

chapter 7

'No no no please' Andrea begs Merle to not shoot T-Dog. Merle looks up to where Andrea is and looks around at all of us. He looks back down at T-dog and spits on his t-shirt and rubs his spit all over T-dogs chest. 

'Yeahhh, alright. We're gonna have ourselves a little pow wow. Huh? Talk about who's in charge.' Merle stands up from T-dog and Andrea, Glenn and another man pull T-dog backwards towards them.

'I vote me. Anybody else? Huh? Democracy time y'all. Show of hands huh? All in favour' He looks towards me and winks. I growl at his actions and go to punch him but Rick holds my arm back. I look at Rick and he just nods his head at me. He's up to something. But what? 

'Come on. Lets see 'em' Merle points his gun to Andrea, Glenn, T-dog and the other woman, so slowly and reluctantly they raise their hands.

'That's good. That means I'm the boss, right? Yeah...Anybody else? Hmmm? Anybody?'

'Yeah' Rick interrupts and Merle turns to face him when Rick suddenly hits Merle with the rifle, knocking him straight on his ass. I laugh as Rick grabs Merle and handcuffs him to the pipe on the roof so he cant escape. 

'Who the hell are you man?' 

'Officer friendly' Rick gets up and I begin to laugh at what Rick just said, 

'And what are you laughing at sweetheart? You into this kinky shit?' I look at Merle while still laughing,

'No but now you have no power against us. Look at you. You cant even get up ha' Merle gives me another death look before I begin to walk back downstairs. I hear Rick and Merle talking and then I hear footsteps behind me. I look back and see Rick following me and Merle shouting things at him. The rest of the group follows us back downstairs. 

I sit up on one of the counters as Rick looks at my nose. I have a nose bleed from where Merle sucker punched me but apart from that its fine.

'Does this hurt?' Rick asks as hes poking at my nose to see if its broken.

'No its fine. Thanks' I thank him as he brings up a tissue to my nose to help with catching the blood. 

'No problem' He walks away to talk to Glenn and I sit on the counter getting lost in my thoughts when they get interrupted. 

'Hey I'm sorry about earlier. The names Andrea.' 

I look up at Andrea and she gives me a small smile. I return the smile,

'Lizzy. I'm sorry too. Its just my instinct when you pulled your gun out I had to pull mine out y'know? I mean I don't know you people you could have shot Rick and then me next.' I stare at the walkers as they continue to bang on the door. Andrea sighs at my words,

'I just want to get back to my sister. She's with the rest of us. I'm the one who needs to protect her she's got no one else in this world anymore' I look to Andrea. I feel sympathy for her. 

'I know that feeling' I look down, thinking of my own group and my little brother. Its my job to protect him so I can understand her frustration with not being near her sister to protect her. Not knowing if she's safe or not. 

'What about you? Do you have your own group? Where are they?' Andrea questions me.

'Yeah I have my own group. I think they're still near the abandoned highway. I have my brothers there with our parents and a few other people. I just hope they're safe' Andrea put a hand on my shoulder as some sort of comfort and gives me another smile before walking off. I look towards T-dog and see the other woman helping him, I decide to go over to them.

'You alright?' T-dog looks up at me and gives me a smile,

'Yeah I'm good. That man's just an asshole.' He shakes his head, 'How are you doing? He gave you a good punch' I laugh at his words and he laughs too, wincing a little from the pain.

'Yeah I'm good. It'll take more than that prick to put me down that's for sure' I laugh along with T-dog. The woman helping him laughs too and looks up at me and smiles.

'I'm Jacqui' As she holds her hand out to me. I look at her hand and slowly take it,

'Lizzy' Jacqui tells me the other mans name is Morales.

After the brief encounter, I hear Rick and Morales talking about how we can get out. 

'It's up to us to find a way out' Rick tells us all, but Morales butts in,

'Good luck with that the streets aren't safe in this part of town' 

'Guys. We don't have to go through the street' Everyone looks at me, confused.

'Well how exactly do you expect us to get out? Hmmm? What, flag down the helicopter officer friendly here saw' Morales says. 

'Pfft no. We don't have to go through the streets...we can go under them. In the sewer' 

'Oh man' Morales runs up to the roof and we all follow.

'Glenn check the sides do you see any manhole covers' Glenn goes over to the end of the building where the alleyway is and checks.

'No must be all out on the streets where the geeks are' Geeks? really Glenn?

Suddenly Jacqui comes into the conversation with an idea.

'Maybe not. Old building like this built in the 20's. Big structures often had drainage tunnels leading into the sewers in case of flood.' We all turn and look at Jacqui shocked. 

'How do you know that?' I ask her,

'It's my job...was my job'

Quickly we all make our way down to the basement of the building and surely enough we find a drainage tunnel leading to the sewers.
