Lacey sat at the edge of Henry's bed. Fully dressed, she was thinking about what had just happened. She looked over her shoulder to the sleeping boy. He was under the blanket and facing towards her.
She stood up from the bed and grabbed her shoes. It felt like she didn't have control of her actions earlier and she was angry at herself.
Lacey stormed out of the house and picked up her bike. She started riding down the street to her home. Tears fell down her face as she realized that even if they did make love, he was never going to change. She knew it.
She ran inside of her house and into her bedroom. Lacey wiped away her tears as she turned away from her bedroom door. The light coming from her window illuminated the room slightly and she noticed a figure standing in the corner of her room.
"What?" She whispered to herself. As soon as the word left her mouth. The figure's eyes opened.
Lacey was mesmerized by its eyes. She felt entranced. She couldn't look away. It's mouth opened to reveal rows of sharp teeth.
Lacey wanted to scream and wake someone up, but the sound never left her mouth.
"Hello Lacey." It said.
"Hi?" She stood frozen but mustered up the courage to speak. She'd never been this scared before.
"Would you like a balloon?" She could see something in her peripheral vision floating towards her, but she didn't dare take her eyes off of the thing in her bedroom.
She shook her head to say no and it frowned.
"Why not? Don't cha like balloons?" The voice was raspy but sounded like a high pitched guy voice.
"I see. You don't know who I am? I am Pennywise the Dancing Clown." When it said the word 'Dancing' he shivered and his voice rose an octave or two.
"You're Lacey Averman." Lacey was scared out of her mind. If she could've ran out she would've. Her feet were making her stay in place.
"Don't worry Lacey. I won't hurt you. But remember my words." The balloon floated in front of her and popped.
She closed her eyes as a reflex and felt a gooey warm liquid on her face. She opened her eyes and a deathly white face was inches away from her.
"You'll float too." He whispered before jumping at her.
Finally she screamed and the lights turned on. She turned around as the door opened and her mother stood in the hallway with Lacey's little sister at her side.
"Lacey honey? Are you okay? What's wrong?" Mrs. Averman asked.
"E-e-ev-everything is f-fine mom. G-go back to sleep." Now she knew how Bill felt with his stutter.
Lacey's mom gave her a puzzled look but took her youngest daughter back to bed. Lacey felt her face and saw Red slime on her hand.
Blood.
'How did she not see this?' Lacey asked herself. She looked back in the corner of her room and saw nothing in its place.
Shaken up, Lacey took a shower as quickly as possible and laid down on her living room couch.
After what had happened in her bedroom, Lacey was not the most excited to go back.
That night Lacey didn't fall asleep until the early hours of the morning. Only waking up to the sound of knocking at her door.
