—Yukine

Two days after the run in with that girl, (Y/n), Hiyori and I were out at the store.

She said she wanted to spend more free time with me since all we really did together was study. Not that I minded just doing that, I was happy she was devoting some time to me.

"Hey, Yukine? Where has Yato been the past couple of nights?" Hiyori asked me as we were walking down the sidewalk eating ice cream together.

"Oh, he got a job helping this girl, he's just commiting to it," I answered, taking another lick of my ice cream.

"Oh, I see," Hiyori said with a smile. "What exactly did she need help with?" She asked.

"Well, the night we found her, she had tried to commit suicide because of a phantom. He said Tenjin told him to take care of the phantom but I guess Yato was interested in the fact that what happened to you also happened to her," I explained. "So he offered to make her happier in return for the 5 yen he charges. She seemed like a troubled person, I'm glad she asked Yato for help," I added.

"She's like me? Wow! Finally someone I can relate to," Hiyori replied.

I laughed slightly. "Yeah, you guys can talk about your struggles together if you ever meet," I said.

"I have to meet her, Yukine," she answered.

"I'll ask Yato to bring her here sometime so you two can meet then," I replied.

"Yes please do, I'm really interested in meeting her," she said.

After walking along the street for awhile, we came across a park and decided to go there. I had finished my ice cream awhile back but Hiyori was still working on hers.

"Yukine, I'm sorry to be talking about him so much, but have you noticed anything odd about Yato lately?" Hiyori asked in her genuine tone.

"Yeah I guess so, but he's always odd," I answered.

"No, I mean more odd than usual," Hiyori replied.

"Hm... Well I guess it was pritty strange for him to take on that job for Tenjin. There must have been some sort of deal he made with him. One he clearly didn't want us to know about," I explained.

"Maybe you should try to ask him," she suggested.

"Probably," I answered and sighed. "He's always getting himself into trouble, I just hope he isn't right now," I added.

"You and me both, Yukine."

Later that night, Yato was about to head out again before I stopped him. "Hey, Yato?" I spoke up.

Before he could run off, he turned to me and said, "what is it, Yukine? I was about to head out to check on my client."

"Well, I had a question about that actually," I said. "Why exactly did you accept that job from Tenjin?" I asked.

"Oh, you know, I just happened to be going by and he asked me to do it for him. You know how busy he is," he replied.

It was all too suspicious. "Yeah but you'd never do something like that for him without some sort of repayment," I pointed out.

"What are you on my case about, Yukine?" He asked, dodging my question in the process.

"Well, Hiyori and I were worried about you. We noticed you acting weird recently and we just wanted to make sure you weren't getting into any trouble," I answered.

He seemed distressed by this reply. Only in a pinch. "No, I've been fine. You guys worry too much," he said.

I pouted a bit at his answer. "One more thing. I told Hiyori about (Y/n). She said that she really wanted to meet her, maybe you should bring her by here at some point," I said.
