It's the sound of the car shutting off and watching the planes leave the run way that gets your nerves going.
Airports are definitely not my favorite place to be. It's full of everything in your worst nightmare, especially the one you can't wake up from. As I said, the worst.
"My plane should depart in about 45 minuets" I say bitterly to my mom, as I reach for my pink car charger on the other side of the car. I hate the color pink I thought as I opened the car door to let myself out.
See here's the thing, my mom thinks that I've spent way to much time with her. And that I never got time to truly meet my father. I really think it's just a way for her to say goodbye to me, and work on herself for a while. While I'm going down to California to adjust to a new lifestyle there.
"I packed you some extra stuff for your trip there. It's only going to be about 9 hours or so." She says as she hands me my black suit case. I study the suit case, noticing all the scratches it has from the use of it.
I nod my head as in response, still not wrapping my brain around the whole flying idea.
I've kinda been scared of heights since I was a little kid. It all started the day that I was pushed off the playground at my elementary school by this older kid. When I hit the ground, the last thing I remember was my arm bent the other way. I cried. To be honest, I can not even look over the tall railing at the mall to see the levels below me without even thinking of falling. And I know for sure, a plane ride isn't going to be any different for me.
I hug my mom as I said my last goodbyes.
"I want you to call me or send me a text when you make it down there. I know you think I'm doing this for me and my bettering. But I'm not. Your father called me a few weeks ago asking about you. And I thought that you going down there for the year would be good for not only you, but him." She says as she walks towards the old red beat up Bettle she drives around.
I give her a thumbs up, and wave a goodbye as she pulls out of the airports parking lot. Knowing this will be the last time I see her for the next 10 months. It truly Feels like a long time.
I try to gather my things as I notice that the clock above me states 5:30 am. My flight is around 6:20, so I have quite a bit of time to do absolutely nothing in this disgusting airport.
Walking towards the luggage area, I set down my stuff and take out my blue ear buds. You can't take a plane ride without them. I'm pretty sure I'd cry if I ever forgot them at home.
I walk towards the boarding area, and board my flight. I might as well get my seat settled in and relax a little. I've never seen California before and I'm not sure what is truly expected. I've seen all the really nice pictures online, but I surely imagine that it couldn't be like that in real life. Sometimes I think I over think stuff.
The last thing I remember is hearing the captain say "alright ladies and gentlemen we are going to be taking a nice flight all the way down to Arizona, please enjoy your flight. And have a nice day." Before I dozed into a deep heavy sleep.

The sound of a kid crying wakes me up from my deep sleep. I look to my right, which is across the isle, to find a mother holding a small child on her lap. I gaze at the soft sight with a smile tagging on my face. Looking to my left, I find a teenage boy who looks to be the age of thirteen looking down at a comic book."You a fan?" I look up from the comic book on his lap, to see the boy with glasses staring at me. He must have caught my gaze down at it.
"Yeah, I used to sit and read some of them when I was younger. About your age" I reply back giving him a simple smile.
The boy turned the page of the book and continued his story as the plane ride continued. This trip is definitely a long one.
I decided to put my ear buds back in and listen to a old song. Party in the USA by Miley Cyrus blasted through the small speakers. I couldn't help but smile at the thought that I'd be landing in California to start over again. A new start. It couldn't be that bad right?

"Welcome ladies and gentlemen to Arizona!" The captain announced as we landed the large white plane smoothly onto the runway.Grabbing my belongings, I led myself off the cramped plane. Let me tell you, I couldn't be more relieved to finally be off the plane.
I reached for the wallet in my crossbody, and got out a few dollars. I walked up to the vending machine stationed by the bathrooms. I was hoping for a good drink, but all I could find was some diet drinks. I sighed, and put in my bills and waited for my Diet Pepsi to pop out.
I couldn't wait to get down to California, my next plane boards in about 2 hours or so. Meaning I have a few hours to pass at the airport. Which doesn't sound that pleasant.
I take a glance around the airport. Not much to it, other than the people running to catch their flights, or the couples that are about to depart themselves from each other.
I might as well take a seat over in the lounge area, and wait the few hours before my boarding.
Hours past, and my flight is set to go. Boarding the plane with the same kid I sat to last time, I prepare myself to meet my father for the first time since I was 5.
What do I even say to him? "Hi dad, I haven't seen you in almost 12 years! Let's talk over a coffee?"
That sounds more forced than anything. I sighed putting my iPod on shuffle and laying my head back.A new begging, that's where this should start. Is my last thought as we depart Arizona. Next stop, California.
Oh goody..
