Sam-

I couldn't believe how quickly Frank and I were becoming friends. I didn't even talk to Casey, Paul, and Alex until a month into the school year last year. "Hey, so um, what instrument do you play?" He asked as we made our way to music class. "I can play the bass pretty well and I can also sing."

Frank perked up. "You sing? That's perfect! We need a singer for class today since Gerard isn't here." I nodded. "Okay." I shrugged. I stopped at my locker to get my solid black bass guitar and then we walked into class. Frank ran over to two other guys. One with really poofy hair, the other tall and lanky and wore glasses.

"Hey, Sam, come over here!" Frank half shouted. I sighed and walked over. "What?" I asked, not looking at him since I was tuning my bass. "Guys, this is my new friend Sam. Sam, this is Ray, and Mikey." I looked up at them. I knew the one with the poofy hair was Ray because Frank mentioned him earlier.

And the one with the glasses is Mikey. Ray smiled at me. "Hi." He said, offering to shake his hand. "Wow, so formal." I mumbled and shook his hand. Frank laughed. Mikey just half smiled and waved. "She'll be filing in for Gerard since he's not here today." Frank explained.

Ray and Mikey look at me. "Can you sing?" Mikey asked. "Yeah, otherwise Frank wouldn't ask me to do this." They nodded. "Alright, we have to preform a song today, we need you to memorize these lyrics in time before it's our turn to preform." Ray says before handing me a notebook.

I looked at the first page with lyrics. At the top it said The Ghost Of You. "I'll show you how it's sung." Said Ray. I nodded again. "You play bass too?" Mikey asked. "Yeah. It's one of the only things I'm good at." He nods. "Cool, maybe you go show me what you know.

I play bass too, but I'm not that good." Mikey explained. I shrugged and nodded. "Sure why not." "Thanks." The bell rings and we all sit down. There weren't any desks, just chairs, so I had to put my guitar case under my chair. Ray sat next to me and we looked over the lyrics for the song.

We read over it like 100 times while he quietly sang it to me so I knew what tone to have and which parts were higher pitched than others. He took the notebook away and told me to sing the lyrics to him. I sang quietly to him. I actually remembered the lyrics. "I think you're ready." He smiles.

As soon as he said that, the teacher walked up to us. "Frank, Mikey, Ray, are you ready?" He asked. They nod excitedly. The teacher smiled and picked up some drumsticks. "Mr. Wells plays drums for us since our drummer goes to another school. He plays drums for most of the students." Mikey explained.

I nodded. "Mr. Wells, Sam here will be filling in for Gerard today." Ray says. He nods. "Okay. It's very nice to meet you Sam." He smiles and shakes my hand. "You too." We get up and walk onto the little platform that I guess is the stage. All eyes were on us. A few people gave me weird looks and whispered to their friends.

I sighed and kept my head down. Frank spoke into one of the mics. "Uh, this song is called The Ghost Of You. Gerard's not here, so she's gonna be singing it." He nudged his head in my direction when he said my name. I took a deep breath when they started playing.

"I never said I'd lie and wait forever

If I died, we'd be together now
I can't always just forget her
But she could try

At the end of the world
Or the last thing I see
You are never coming home, never coming home
Could I? Should I?
And all the things that you never ever told me
And all the smiles that are never ever...
Ever...

Get the feeling that you're never
All alone and I remember now
At the top of my lungs in my arms she dies
She dies

At the end of the world
Or the last thing I see
You are never coming home, never coming home
Could I? Should I?
And all the things that you never ever told me
And all the smiles that are ever gonna haunt me
Never coming home, never coming home
Could I? Should I?
And all the wounds that are ever gonna scar me
For all the ghosts that are never gonna catch me

If I fall
If I fall down

At the end of the world
Or the last thing I see
You are never coming home, never coming home
Never coming home, never coming home
And all the things that you never ever told me
And all the smiles that are ever gonna haunt me
Never coming home, never coming home
Could I? Should I?
And all the wounds that are ever gonna scar me
For all the ghosts that are never gonna..."

I took several deep breaths at the end of the song and looked up. The class was silent at first but then started clapping. I sighed in relief and looked at the guys. They smiled and clapped for me. "Dude, that was awesome!" Frank squealed and hugged me. I bit my lip since I was really skinny and weak.

"Yeah. I wish my brother was here to see that!" Mikey patted my shoulder after Frank let me go. "Are you coming to our show tonight?" Ray asked. I nodded. "Yeah. Frank already told me about it." They all smile. "This better be good." I said jokingly. "Trust me, you'll be happy you showed up." Said Frank
