Tis the Season for KH/FF Secret Santa!! [Rules, Explanations, and Deadlines]

❆ Hello, and Welcome to the Fifth Annual Kingdom Hearts/Final Fantasy Secret Santa Gift Exchange!❆

Adrian/Whyareall here! The Christmas Chocobo unfortunately isn't going to be able to run things this year, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't try to carry on anyway! Because a slightly unorthodox Secret Santa is better than no Secret Santa, right? So I'm taking over this year, and hopefully with your help it will be just as much fun as past the four years!

But first, an introduction for anyone new to this exchange:

For those of you who don't know what a Secret Santa Gift Exchange is, this event occurs when a group or community comes together and randomly assigns a person to give a gift to another person. Many of you will be familiar with this from last year or in general, but don't be afraid to ask for further explanation of the concept or anything else. This particular gift exchange is an opportunity for writers in the KH/FF fandom to create a piece of writing for another person in our community, and in exchange someone else will write one for you. It's like a short story/oneshot trade, with a holiday twist!

Here's your basic rundown of events before we get into the nitty-gritty.

Assignment of Secret Santas: November 27

Reply Time: November 27-December 4

Gift X-change: December 24-31

Chocobo Run: January 1-8

Now let's get on to the rules! It's not a complicated event, but please pay attention and try to follow everything outlines below.

✻ ❉Rules✻ ❉

•Length: There are no specific length requirements, but don't be shitty about it. Don't turn in half a page and call it a day, and don't write a 500 page thriller that takes days to get through and is completely irrelevant to your Secret Santa gift recipient. Just make a normal, appropriately paced and planned out short story/oneshot. Remember, this is really our only holiday tradition here, so try to put a little thought into your writing and give your Secret Santa something you would be happy to receive.

•FAQ: There is not an official FAQ for this event. It's easier for me to just respond to any questions individually in the comments down below. If I find some questions are being asked repeatedly, then I will consider making an FAQ chapter, but until we get to that point, just feel free to ask whatever you'd like below and I'll get back to you.

•Content: Because this is a gift exchange where you are (hopefully) trying to tailor your writing to the specifications of your gift recipient, there are no overarching content-specific rules I can give you. You should read the wishlist of your recipient, and try to build your story concept from there in a thoughtful manner. If you're writing for someone who says they don't mind mature content with a slew of profanity (like me! ...though that's not very 'in the spirit of Christmas,' but hey, I'm not judging you!), go for it. If they just want a nice, fluffy Christmas story, then dial it back and give them that. Basically, if they're asking for bunny slippers, give them bunny slippers, not a sweater, even though you personally like sweaters. Capiche?

•Wishlist: Everyone who wants to participate must fill out a wishlist so your Secret Santa isn't completely clueless what to get you. You will find the wishlist template in the next chapter (labeled Participants) of this story.
