"so baby what are your plans for tonight?" I ask my boyfriend Chris

" nothing maybe a movie night or netflix and chill" he smirks

" I'm down with that"

" okay baby, see you soon"

" Okay daddy"

I hung up

I smiled knowing he was my boyfriend and I was so, unbelievably happy with him.

I was currently sitting in my beauty room in a robe, with my makeup half done eating grapes and raspberries.

I turned on mo bamba which was one of my new favorite songs. And finished getting ready

Ring
Ring
Ring

I thought nothing of it but sliding right and answering the phone.

Once I got a response my heart dropped

My mom

" Vanessa honey, it's your mother" her small voice cracked

" hey momma"

" I haven't talked to you in a while"

" I know mom... I've been busy"

" too busy to call your mother is see-how are you?"

"I'm good mom"

"It's been 2 years Vanessa"

"I'm aware of that mother, but we did end on bad terms"

"Non sense, that's behind us. I'm coming to visit you. Me your father and your brother"

" okay momma, when?"

"Next week"

-

My mother isn't an easy person to get along with.

My father, he is,  Same with my brother.

My mom just, can't do it

We got In a  fight, thus me leaving to move to Cali.

I grew up in Indiana, however

I never talk about it because it makes me sad.

I never liked my family too much, they are all so fake.

I only really ever got along with  my brother, my dad and my cousin Sam

My brother is 15 or so now.

I haven't talked to him in forever

How did things end so badly?

Well..

My mom was an alcoholic and she was always drunk.

I got so used to seeing her like that, I didn't even notice she was always acting different

I hated her, I wanted her dead

She never would show up to my band performances   in middle school

Or my choir in high school

Or even my middle school, and high school graduation

One day... 3 days after my 18th birthday

She was drunk and I had an appointment to get my wisdom teeth removed and she was my ride.

She was so drunk and I remember her smelling like vodka

I refused to get in the car so she ran over my foot.

I got on a plane to California the next day

I got all my college funds out of my bank account
And I left.

My mom told my family I  just up and left and traded them, and they believed it.

You see, my mom visiting is probably just an excuse to convince me of something that isn't true , more than likely

And I didn't want it to happen... NOT in front of Chris at least
